Enough said.

I've had so many headsets ranging from the cheapest to some expensive types over the years.

Personally, for all-round ability Senns are great. Very comfortable, good sound, great mic. The only gripe I had with the old set was the weak cable which could be damaged.

Currently using the PC350. Highly reccommended.

Plantronics have good sound but they aren't so strong, exept maybe the cable.

This is how my pair looked like before I bought a pair of HS1A, a much more comfortable one.

I'm not a rager, this headset has only been dropped on the floor a few times, don't take me wrong, it's an excellent headset, good mic and sound. Strength is their weakness.

Cougar's headset loses a day of lifetime every time he sees an insurgency map.

I have the Bose QC2s and they work amazing and have a break away cord so if it gets caught under a chair with wheels or you walk away from the comp with them on the cord comes out of the head phones and doesnt rip em off your head or anything. And you can wear them in public and not look like a cholo. Noise cancellation is a must as well, gets rid of computer fan noises and general chatter from the hard drive so you can hear foot steps and stuff very good. Price is the only draw back but Bose people are good at letting you return stuff. Iv hulked out on mine before and brought them back to the Bose store and they gave me new ones no questions asked. No mic on them though, you gotta use a stand alone.

i bought siberia v2s after my g35 broke after i went to take them off my head (never by logitech sound gear they arent very durable and have an insane price for it) im not really impressed with them for the money you can certainly buy something better, they dont produce high frequency sound very well, the bass is alright, but voices are always too low (in other games) and the gun sounds in PR sound ****, also the mic is the worst ive ever had in a headset, if you want to get the best sound you need to tweak it A LOT.

Sound Blaster Tactic(3D) Sigma might be good
ive only heard praise from this model, but its a bit pricey.

in the end you cant go wrong with sennhiser even though they dont have many headphones, and what ecfelix said koss have great products

KOSS SB-45. Hands down the best budget headset on the market. Koss has been making high quality sound equipment for years and you just cant beat the lifetime warranty.

do not buy razer products

stay away from "gaming" peripherals, in the first place, theyre grossly overpriced.

Buy a good pair of headphones, and a cheap desktop mic.

If you're filthy rich, try these... A20 Aviation Headset

If not, then go for these... Sennheiser Worldwide - PC 360

I used to own a Sennheiser PC 350 until my devil possessed cat chew the cable off :-( But i'm eyeballing a new set of pc360 :p

Just like every item in capitalism, headsets too are designed to last short time so you would buy new ones often enough.. one method to shorten item age is to make it easily breakable on purpose, but in a way that customer blames himself for breaking it instead of manufacturer for making too crappy product. More and more of items are also made almost impossible to repair by yourself, on purpose ofc.

At least headsets arent programmed to break after X-time of use, like many printers are.

Lol that was so helpful.

I'm using Koss ur-40 with zallman mc1 mic cause everyone was dissuading me buying them "gaming headphones" which offer shitty sound quality. Mine are the best you can find for that low price (at least I hope so), and the mic is also very good.

be sure to get these cables for those headphones http://www.amazon.com/AudioQuest-K2-ter ... X59J2PD02K

on a more serious note,
What I use

Sennheiser HD 555 (stereo)
Medusa 5.1 Home Edition (5.1 w/ a good soundcard)

Don't go for some cheapo $20 headset or logitech headsets, had a bad experience with both. But i've also heard good things about creative fatality headsets though i personally haven't used them.
