Corsair HS1 Gaming Headset Unboxing + Review - YouTube

buy the A (analog) version if you have a (good) soundcard.

Plantronics makes the best headphones for the money. Usually 100<. I have had a pair that has lasted for years, excellent sound quality and VERY durable.

get the shure 840s, if you aren't into music now, you will after owning these. And I think they are only $140 on Amazon (down from $200)

I have answered this question on these forums more than a few times always the same thing

GET THE CREATIVE FAT1ITY

There like 45 to 50 bucks. Sound great, fit great, and the mic wont break off too easy, so there almost rage proof.

Yes the Creative Fatality headset is good, just don't let anyone you respect or admire see you wearing them, they look ridiculous =] Just a heads up

i was lucky enough to have a friend get me a Logitech G35. i still go up to him time to time and go, "wtf were you thinking man...200 bucks. I love you...no homo."

the sound is glorious. i used to run a cheap 15 dollar headset i found at a flea market. to be honest those worked great too for most intents and purposes.

in the end it all comes down to do you want to be able to BELIEVE through your auditory senses that a mortar just landed near you, or do you just need more accurate directional audio and the ability to communicate. Also of course be able to play at night without disturbing the people in the next room. i would definitely recommend dishing out the cash for a nice one that will A) last you a long time, and B) stand up in quality against the next few generations of similar hardware

I used to have these and they were great. The only problem I had with them was that only a few months after getting them the plastic connecting one of the phones to the headband cracked partially and not long after getting them replaced the same plastic as before cracked, this time completely in half so that the phone was dangling from a wire. It was disappointing since I was never rough with them, it just broke...

(This was the MK2 version.)

My headphones are my one RAGE item. The mouse, keyboard, and monitors are far more expensive so the headphones take the brunt of the game rage. So far mine have held up well.

I had the MKI's for a while with little issues and got the MKII's about 6 months ago and they are 95% structurally.

Low cost - Another vote here for the creative Fatality set. Combined with a SB X-FI card set in headphone mode, the virtual surround sound is very good and they are pretty tough - going on 3 years VS the one week I got out of a gaming 5.1 set and the microphone crapped out.

I like the detachable and easily adjustable microphone, I always take it out when not needed and/or the kids are using them.

same thing here with the great detachable mic boom

I use my old MKI's with the boom off for like movies on a Airplane or Netflix at the hotel or something. They work great for that.

The MKII fatality's have a harder to remove Mic Boom but they detach with out too much trouble or move out of the way.

Steelseries v2 headset was good, now i have logitech g35 which has alot better sound quality but im unable to hear my self while speaking which makes spelling foreign language difficult. With steelseries v2 you could hear yourself.

But 1 criteria over all for PR is surround. Headset should have surround 7.1 or 5.1, makes it possible to hear the direction where sound is coming from. G35 has much worse surround than steelseries v2, but the quality of sound is much better even tho steelseries v2 sound quality wasnt bad either.

Sennheiser PC151, using them for 4 years now. No issues whatsoever, cable is 3m, solid as hell and it has been tortured a LOT.

True sennheiser quality, deep bass, nice highs, good mids not too much tho. Mic is sweet.

Oh well, pretty much a pro-tip here lol. "Gaming Headsets" are a damn rip off. For people who think they are "Gam0rz"... Pc151 is a good headset also very good for gaming and music.

I am playing with Creative Xtreme Music with CMSS3D turned on and a +6db bass boost at 80Hz to compensate for CMSS3D taking away some bass. I have a very good idea of what is going on around me, locating shots and enemies by hearing them is no big deal.

Just my 2 cents.

I had a steelseries v2... STEELSERIES IS BUNCH OF FUCKING ****. no lows, too strong highs & mids for "footsteps"... Screw that man, PR is so much more than footsteps... If that BMP or Challenger does not have the low end beasty engine it just sounds weak. Bah. Steelseries...

My last 2 headsets has been Sennheiser. The first set got the cable cut by accident...but you cant really blame the headset for that :D

Also with regard to "gaming" headsets....I agree that they normally make you pay for a fancy name or fancy design (that breaks easy) and forget about the actual durability and quality of the sound.

Sometimes if i drop this headset I think omfg...it has be broken now......but everything still works....it is very bendy and deflects its own fall.

Dude my cable has suffered so much tension... Sometimes its stuck on my chair and I pull the chair and wonder why its not boing back... I pull harder, then notice the cable... Happened a few times so nothing broke... Amazing man.

And it fell down so many times without taking any damage. The only thing I am worried about are the fluffy things that go around your ear. After 4 years of usage they seem a bit... Derrty, hahaha.

haha yea i know the problem. There are ways of cleaning them though.

the way i broke my first set was not a conventional "stuck on chair" issue.... (ive tryed that a few times) it was the razor sharp teeth of a tiger.....aka a cat that got too curious and attacked the cable
