Not if they were actually part of the map... but again, I'm not a proficient coder, so Arch Enemy would have to provide you with that info of whether it would be feasible.

well thats a great idea hopefully it works, and if not the commander base being outside the normal battlezone is a good idea and for maps with no such zone... i still think some sort of high-ceiling plane (higher ceiling than the fighters can reach but still visible by fighters at high altitudes) would be a cool idea, so at least the planes are there, even though out of reach
or for a map where there is an ocean the US (and forces allied to the US) could use submarines, since the opposing forces dont seem to have anything to counter submerged subs, and for the opposition forces how about a cave that cant be hit by anything and is guarded by claymores (those are automatic weapons right, as in they dont require any trigger pulling by a soldier?) so that ground troops of the OPFOR cant get in
again just some ideas to throw out there

claymores are typically set of by a trip wire or remote plunger of some sort maybe they could rig up some sort of proximity device i duno

[R-DEV wrote: JS.Fortnight.A]Talent permitting, it may be possible to code in AI bots that maintain a perimeter around a command post, and the map would not be 'co-op, like they would be hardcoded to the map orsomething, not sure really on how that would work, but Arch Enemy might know.
i think that would be the best way to go about it.
how about add an alarm system? when the bots are killed something goes off? so the commander knows he is in danger.

yea got a chance to be commander and its alot of fun
my strategy while commander was to find a nice high place with a good view (ontop of the hotel or atop the crane) and just watch as i called in arty and uav stuff and everything
commander mode rocks, only prob is people dont know enough to join squads yet they just wanna play

being a commander is not fun when your in "command" of 1 squad.... i can't wait to get 64 player servers... imagen the teamwork you can create.

IMO,
There is no need for safe zones for comanders.
Comander must make sure he stays save high and dry or hide somewhere.
How many places there where in BFV where you could wait the whole round and not seeing anyone pass? must be hunderds of times.
And if commander get shot the next person in line will take over his duty ... reallistic!!
and then maybe if he respawns he gets to be commander again or his turn is over..... just make that an option.

yeah that would be the realistic thing, but it would suck if you where the commander. but if he was dumb enough to be killed then he probbaly deserves it....
EDIT_______-
ok. let me refrase, i can't wait untill I can play a 64 player sever
