It really confuses me why people are happy to spend their time in PR sitting in one place. There is ample scope to practise some skills in flanking the enemy, outwitting them on the move and killing them.

If I wanted to stay somewhere quiet and not move I'd just go into the spare bedroom and turn the light off. If I wanted to spice it up a bit I'd set a countdown timer to about 2hrs in the future and then try and predict when it's going to go off..

Undoubtedly it's the most patient person that wins when both guys know where each other are (T-buildings for example). How would you like to play every round like this though?

Should be a game mode called 'bunker defence' where all the people that don't believe in camping can play against each other for hours on end, just waiting for the other person to get bored first..

Exactly the same. But one IED won't help. You need 3-5 of them, because we had a combat engineer and he earned a golden wrench in this battle

In Russian we have a joke, which describes this situation. I will try to translate.

Nope, Sax. This is a very old stupid joke. Maybe someone made a commercial out of it, I don't know.

Just play less Muttrah and more Fools Road. Camping on forest maps is fatal. And the most important thing is PR is, that you can turn every advantage of the enemy into their disadvantage. If a squad is "camping" in a T-Shape, get more guys in caprange, cap the flag leave few guys behind covering the T-Shape. Now the defenders are trapped and cant support the defense or attack on a different flag. If the enemy is using alot of armor, ambush properly and take out the armor, they will loose more tickets than capping one of your flags. Same applies to armor as well as to that CROW. Next time leave them in there, that takes 3 soldiers, one with a combat engineer kit and a important asset away from their team. Which makes your team stronger....

Instead of running around with a tunnelvision and focused on killing, think about alternatives.

Problem is the game promotes camping in so many situations. Tunnels on Barracuda. Tunnels on Kozelsk. Bunker on Barracuda. Etc, etc.

Mestia in its original was with both bunkers then going back to the warehouse and ammo flags. All at the same time, that was fun.

As kilo showed the Humvee could have been killed by an arty IED, or even an rpg. I have seen the US team try to put a 50 cal emplacement in there and defend, it worked for a bit until we realized where it was and just RPGed it from the top, and after that its easy to clear the infantry. Or you could have just let them waste there time like others have said, all you need is 8 people to cap the flag(they had 4 in a crows, so you need double), and the fight would have move along making them useless.

Firstly nice work .41!

Patience IMO is a crucial element to what makes a good PR player. Being a good teamwork orientated player means you sometimes might have to do things you don't want to do like sitting and defending , however this wins games and the potential for teamwork makes PR what it is, too many players are only out to run and gun and "flank" and take all the shiny assets

They seem to have outwitted you by managing to distract your attention enough to pull you and whoever fought alongside you from a more useful role on the field and still take tickets consistently from you.This should be applauded. Next time i suggest doing as curry mentioned and look at alternatives and moreover the grander scale of things, do you need to engage the target or do you hurt their team more by leaving them there?

My two cents anywho

We took all the flags and won the game. They hardly 'outwitted' anyone. We capped 'their' flag whilst they were underneath it, having killed all of their mates because we fought better.

All they did was sit at the end of a hole out of reach of our team and fire a .50 cal whilst using the wrench to repair their asset.

You do live in a romantic world, don't you Loller.

For what it's worth I exclusively play Inf and always squad lead. If you really think that PR nirvana is staying in one spot for 90 minutes without moving I think you need your head examining.

This isn't a simulation, it's a game. Hence it should be fairly fun, rather than a stand off that stretches for [literally] 60 minutes.

For those that applaud this method of camping, do what I suggested and create a 'Bunker Siege' game-mode. Then you could play for 3hrs at a time and see who is the most patient player. It sounds like a ball.

Yep, they won because our team did nothing to help us. None of our team were trying to attack or defend this flag.

And let's congratulate Mikemoster with a #1 prize. He was the most useful player in his team.

You just said that none of your team helped you.. So much for teamwork then (and you guys with the asset..).. And presumably you took this pic because you wanted to save your nice K:D.

The game was at about 11.30 at night FWIW, this was the last server in Europe with players and there were only 20 per side.

I just enjoyed myself, you guys did make me laugh. What were we supposed to do after capping all the flags? I note you didn't move after we took your last one and your tickets were bleeding. Also, if you minus my deaths, you only got 9 kills.. So you weren't doing a huge amount for taking our tickets away were you.. (considering I was in roflkamikaze mode).

Actually the scoreboard shows that your lack of effort in taking flags as a team, and chasing kills instead, lost you the game. You were clearly the better killers but we won!

So much for teamwork, tickets and it not being about a K:D.. At the end of the day you guys just camped to get some nice 'ol kills. So you got the 'tactics' part right.

The only reason the 'tactics' were right is because the map allows it though, hence my OP.

Mike, I know, why you are so upset, but lets do some calculations. You can't argue with pure math and stats.

We captured a flag -30 tickets.
We lost a flag (thx to our team) -30 for our team =0 and this doesn't count.

We got 33 kills = 66 tickets + 2 trucks and revived guys ~75 tickets or more.
- our asset 5 tickets and our deaths 10 tickets =15 tickets.
What we have in total? 75-15=60 tickets. And we were 80% of the time in attacking or defending position, because we were right on the active flag. You said, we were useless for our team, because we were doing nothing. This is not true. We have almost a whole round recorded on video and the screenshot was taken from VLC media player, not in game.
And what did you do for your team, except loosing 26 tickets? If I were you, I'd better didn't start this silly holywar about camping and stuff. Next time think about what you did, roflkamikaze.

It's not camping, its defending a choke point/objective.

its kinda part of the game, you can get into areas where its literally impossible to be rooted out from.

that's why jdams exist, and should be on any map with a silent eagle style bunker.

So the other team tried to pick an impenetrable spot, your team capped past them moved on and won. I fail to see the problem of how this is an exploit.

The spot isn't impenetrable. He is not experienced enough, that is why he thinks it is an exploit, hacks and glitches

Mike, seriously. You won the game. The points Curry mentioned applied. They were sitting ducks (well, not Ducks anymore, are they?! ) and your team won.

Why are we discussing this then? From your POV this story should be going like this:

"Ha, .41 tried to pull off some sketchy stuff today but as they were hogging up to many valuable assets in a rather bad spot (bad as in trapped/cornered) we could still win the round by out capping and rendering their position in the bunker useless! I have huge balls!"

But instead you whine/wine/vine/fine around here.

For that T-shape example:
Two persons, knowing about each others positions, staring at each others doors, WAITING... Why not have someone else put a nade in the enemys' window and THEN storm in?

He, who waits long enough for his teammate to arrive and successfully drop the nade, shall be praised! Not being talked down to as a camper or sth.

Regarding the relation between movement and camping in PR: This is what the game is actually all about for me personally.

You want to be on the move constantly - on a squad level base!
You want to be stationary/accurate as often as possible - on an individual level!

The game pretty much goes on between these two extremes and finding the right balance, in the correct moment, is what makes this game so great imo! OC all the cool stuff, explosions and shiz might help a bit!

Again, impossible: let's just agree on "very hard", okay!? Given, sometimes it really is especially hard, almost silly, due to engine limitations and such but I have yet to see such a spot.

BUT also again, in most of these cases, those enemies aren't really a problem. As mentioned, simply cap them out and guard their exits (with way lower number of men!) afterwards. One of the PR loading screens says "when you can see the enemy, the enemy also can see you" and apart from thermals+smoke this is a) correct and b) goes for the both of them.

I can imagine a case like: the whole! team is sitting in the bunker guarding their exits pretty well etc. When does that ever happen?! Never seen. And even if. You have access to ammo, respawns, the timer to run out, etc. They don't.
OC this would be the most boring game ever...no question about that!

this would only be a problem if the thing was unkillable, but it is demonstrably killable. Just drop an arty down the hole. There is no need to encourage active movement of players at all if theyre being useful, and they are fairly killable.
