"mp5 with 4 mags" would be ok if it was a helicopter pilot..light cas pilots sometimes carry even carbines since they dont eject so extra/bulky load is ok, thats why as mentioned the pilot in COD has an mp5,
but as said in pr Pilot is for all aircraft so that wont do

Maybe make 2 separate kits ? The helicopter pilot kit can't use planes and vice-versa
The 2 would have different loadouts, and that would be great ! You could make the helicopter pilot with no parachute and the plane pilot unavailable in maps with no planes, so you could now re-implement the feature that let pilots enter the back of helicopters for rescue purposes
And also, while you're at it, why not make choppers a little moar resistant to "crash" landing ? Last time my engine failed because of enemy fire in Kashan, I was flying so low that I tried to do a smooth landing... I hit the ground like I would have hit it in a normal landing, but my chopper exploded... I mean, choppers are not suppose to explode when they hit the ground at such speeds...

I agree with the new kit thing. Nice part is all the weapons are already skinned. Not sure about the character models though. Also we can make it left click for plane right click for heli.

but is it worth it? I dont think so. Adding a knife is (i guess) easy, but doing new kits, and lock certain kits on certain maps and so on for that little purpose so you have a mp instead of a pistol when youre shot down? IMO thats not worth it.

As I've already mentioned in this topic, we have talked about it in the past but:

The biggest problem is confusing players, especially the new ones even more than they already are. We would basically have to make it left click pilot kit = chopper pilot and right click = jet. Something that someone can easily request the wrong kit for when they want the other one, then can't get it...
The biggest positive which has made us consider it is really not the weapons, as that's pretty damn small and pointless especially in the pilot kits current state but instead, chopper pilot kit doesn't get a parachute and the jet one dose. But still, even that hasn't been big enough to make us sway to this change yet.

OH-58D is a special case mind you as Eddie said but yes, its not unheard of for other chopper pilots to carry them either.

Guy gives a try.. but hey, how about a "right click" pilot kit, i have read that i have been talked about the noob-related issue, just make both kit to fly anything, the standart one ( as most new people will click on ) will have a pistol and 2 mag, and the second one got an iron sight carbine with 1 mag. So every one's happy and it stop the "commando" abuse cause with iron sight and only 30 shots... you dont realy go far

Comon it can be "realistic" and epicly cool at same time

An alternative is to require a crewman kit to operate a chopper. Crewman kit already doesn't have a parachute, has a carbine type weapon and a new player can never mistake the kits, since when you get in the seat it says "You require a crewman kit to operate this vehicle etc".
It might seem counter-intuitive, but it's actually a very neat solution. The only barrier is the name of the kit, but that's completely superficial. I don't know how other armies run it, but in our military, rotary wing is owned by the army and fixed wing by the air force. Army chopper pilots in many ways have more in common with other army officers than air-force pilots.

Interesting idea, but not just the name, the guy is also wearing the wrong helmet

Could always do an alt kit for the pilot, no parachute but gets a carbine with 1 mag?

Don't want to disturb this too much, but the discussion is moving a bit off topic as the original suggestion was to include a knife in pilot kits, not about including more firearms, even though that's definitely something that could be thought about.
I've seen only positive responses toward including knives, so does that mean that it's a possibility that it will be included? I think it would be a good addition, both for gameplay and realism.

Ye, so far only real issue mentioned is it would make pilots a weapon to take out Firebases but for v1.0 we are looking at not making knifes destroy them anyways so so far it hasn't met much resistance.

Then why not just make a more user friendly selection.
This break it into to columns that should you what if you for what you click with the basic different in either words or pictures. You don't really need a picture to say "This is what the word right next to me says it is" use the pictures to show the man differences.
For example the sniper that I did, left click gets you a scope, right click no scope. For plane and helicopter just put two different logs etc.
Honestly if it were set up like that it would be self explanatory.

I agree, but keep in mind that we are playing PR here. Carefully choosing kits should be standard not just rush to the chopper click-click and jump in. Those 3 extra seconds wont kill anybody.
