I have seen a video where the SWAT teams ( I think Dallas or LAPD) have used a G36.

Germany for sure because they built it. After my travels to southeast Asia, Indonesia does not use the G36's but Singapore does. I dont know about Malaysia and Vietnam.

No, The L85 is (or rather was) made by The Enfield Royal Small Arms factory. The current version, the L85A2, was modifed by H&K.
HK is part of british aerospace isnt it? wich is now BAE systems i tihnk i dunno never mind
nope, the british bought h&k some ten years or so ago, afaik that was also the time when they´ve got the contract to upgrade the enfields, but again, some 5 or 6 years ago, some german investors bought h&k back
BAE bought H&K in 1991 after the G11 project collapsed and H&K effectivly went bankrupt. But in 2002 it was sold back to a conglomerate of German investors (H&K Beteiligungs-GmbH).

Interesting note: Nearly all of H&K's "new" weapons (G36, UMP, MP7, etc) were developed under BAE.

Haven't seen or heard of it in use with municipal department SWAT teams in the US, but I have seen it in the hands of the Capitol Police and National Park Police in DC. I have heard of it serving in the London Metropolitan Police Firearms Unit, though.

And the Norwegian military uses the G3 as their main rifle. Haven't heard of the G36 being used. Maybe with the Special Forces, but not as a standard issue infantry weapon...

just to make that clear, they were developed by germans while the company was owned by the british - also the mp7 was not produced under the british-era

furthermore, h&k did not really went bankrupt, they suffered heavily from the cancellation of the g11 programm (due to the reunification - but whole germany did *jk*) (afaik, i could be wrong on the bankrupt thing)

yeah thats what i thought, cause i remember seeing a photo of an SAS troop with the G36K (or was it E i cannot tell the difference lol).

But this was a long time ago in a Army Magazine (i forgot the name >.<)

Note, British Armed Police Force ... (thats what i call em lol) deffo use the G36's. I think its one of their primary weapons (?) - after the MP5 and L85. But i could be mistaken, ill tell you after i join CO-19 lol :D (i have plans for that)

Its true that the MP7 was not produced under BAE, but the initial project was laid down under them and the ammuntion was definetly finialised while still in British hands. Infact, I swear I've seen the 4.6x30mm round listed as Royal Ordinance, but I cant find the place I saw it, so I might be lying. And anyway, after all that, yes it was German Engineering, but it was only possible because of British money.

Again, I did say "effectively" bankrupt, while they didnt go out of business, they were practically completely out of money because they were all geared up to produce the G11 and G41 but had no one to sell it to. So, British Aerospace picked them up on the cheap.

O_O

rather would have been the greatest rifle ever - germany just didnt adept it as its main assault rifle because with the reunification massive costs came, due to which several military programms were cancelled

It may not be the prettiest thing ever manufactured, but it has a certain elegance about it. And its by far the most advanced assault rifle yet developed. Damn that Gorbachev for tearing down the Berlin wall so soon!

G11 may look horrible. But a G36 with that GL is awesome, looks so good in POE2 that i might just reinstall the mod to use it again.

The British Police are bringing in the G36C to replace the MP5, mainly because the MP5 is no longer in production and because 9mm ammo isn't effective against armoured enemies.

The MP5 is still in heavy use, but as I said it's being replaced. The L85A2 is an Army rifle, no police forces use it, except the Royal Military Police of course, but they police the Army, not the public.

No, i did see public police officers use the L85. (in Channel 4 news - they were in the train stations after the 7/7 attacks. And downing Street).

Hell i dont know, ill try to find some sources.

The SAS prefer the M16 to the SA80 that the army use, if they do use the G36 then not many people know about it.
