I only saw the insectoid resemblance after it had been painted black.
No i didnt know about it. Not what it looked like anyway. I dont like the way the EA/Dice made Hind controlls....it goes sideways on its own sometimes and it flies like ****....

LOL What movie was it? I'm guessing you're pretty young, do you remember any of the late 80s? :)

I think the Hind was (and still is) depicted in nearly every movie, comic book or videogame in which the Soviet / Russian Army was depicted (sometimes with other helicopters modified to resemble them) since 1984, or so. Red Dawn, Rambo: First Blood II, Rambo III, Red Scorpion, Mercs (old videogame), Metal Gear Solid and MGS3, and those are just the ones I can think of at the moment. [Edit]Oh yeah, I saw what looked to be an authentic Hind-D in the trailer for Blood Diamond. :)

Well, if you're to put in the Apache, then put in the Hind. I know that they're not all that alike, but for some reason they always seem to go hand in hand.

Yeah, and for some reason Comanche and Hokum go together. No, wait, the game I played was Apache Havoc. Hmm....

Red Dawn....great movie
And as the windshield melts
My tears evaporate
Leaving only charcoal to defend.
Finally I understand the feelings of the few.

Red Scorpion... crappy movie :D

I would like to see the Hind ingame too.
The Operation Peacekeeper team made a very nice one which has space for 4 passengers and the doors open and close when you lift off and land.
Maybe cooperate with the like with USI and get it..? 8)

OK, ive had enough of this...

Remove T90 and give MEC Challenger 2! No ME countries use the T90, Oman and Saudi Arabia uses the Challenger 2. Give them that! No questions asked. That's the logic of you guys.

Iran use a modified AH Cobra, so yes...lets give MEC the Iranian Cobra. No? You say no? Why the f*ck do you say no? Well why do want MEC to have the inferior equiptment but not the superior equiptment?

The whole thing is messed. Either do MEC as a totally fictional army, a fictional high tech russian army or a realistic ME army with ME equiptment. Not some mixed thing where it gets the short end of the stick for everything...

Sorry but, the HIND has failed miserably in every game and i can only see it as a magnet for SRAWS, RPG's and Grenade launchers and .50 cals and M16's and everything else.

First time I came accross the Hind was in Metal Gear Solid (d'oh), fun game though!

Did you look at those links above Mekstizzle? I doubt it'll be an aerial rustwagon, as old as the original was. I do see what you mean about being a bullet magnet though, they're ultra bulky and about as manouverable as a drunken cow...

Perhaps if people started flying helicopters LIKE helicopters ARE flown, however, then they'd stay out of small-arms range anyway. You adapt to what you're flying right? I really think this should be considered.

i dont know, but afaik saudi arabia and oman are the only me countries that use the challenger 2 (and more or less, oman is occupied by the mec - at least according to some pr maps^^)
Iran use a modified AH Cobra, so yes...lets give MEC the Iranian Cobra. No? You say no? Why the f*ck do you say no? Well why do want MEC to have the inferior equiptment but not the superior equiptment?
iran has some cobras left, but virtually no spare parts, also those cobras are pretty pretty old
the superhind would be quite nice, infact, they´ve made it lighter and it should be even more maneuverable
Sorry but, the HIND has failed miserably in every game and i can only see it as a magnet for SRAWS, RPG's and Grenade launchers and .50 cals and M16's and everything else.

uh, you know that a hind is one of the best armored choppers in the whole world? the whole vehicle is 7.62mm safe, meaning that an m16 would do nothing - and some critical parts have an even thicker armor
also, what games did you play Oô
just look at ofp for example, the hind there kicked ***...
also, i dont not see why it would be more of a "bullet magnet" than the blackhawk, infact, it is better armored and perhaps about as agile (though i have to look up the engine specs and stuff)

the newest hind versions are not bad at all (mi35-m for example) - and those updated by other companys are quite potent actually - modern avionics, modern weapons (also small arms fire poses no danger for hinds) - but what some people seem to forget is, that the hind would not replace the mi-28 havoc, which is a quite formidable attack helicopter on its own (en par with the longbow)

The Hind D has virtually no defence against SAMs especially the Stinger and SA7 . When the Soviets attacked Afganistan the west sold numerous Stinger missiles to the afgani rebels. I remeber watching a documenty about the Soviet Hind on the history channel they interviewed a Former Spetsnaz guy and he said the only way to avoid the stinger was to face it head on and try to dodge it other wise your done for. This is of the Mi8 but their defence systems are roughly the same... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FZnGc_MBm1U

I remember seeing vids of the Hind dropping flares then lowering itself down with the flares to protect itself. I think it was Kandahar but not sure.
See the movie " The Beast " for another look at the Sov's in afghanistan.
And as the windshield melts
My tears evaporate
Leaving only charcoal to defend.

Ah, this is not the case, I have seen the Mi-24s in real life in Bulgaria.

According the the official write up:
... When engaged in battles, the Mi-24 scatters dipole reflectors protecting itself from the motorized anti-aircraft rockets 'Stinger', 'Arrow-2M', 'Needle' etc. ...
