Are you Z97 or H97? More overclocking on Z but twice the price....
Is it only that one CPU that is unlocked?

I think ComradeHX is talking about the Pentium G3258 Anniversary Edition. which has an unlocked multiplier.
There won't be any other unlocked Pentium CPUs released this year afaik.
It's probably the best budget CPU for an entry level gaming rig that Intel has released in 5 or more years.

I'm overclocking on a Msi B85 g43 gaming version motherboard. (it was a package from newegg for g3258 cpu + motherbord for $90 total)
You don't need a top of the line motherboard to overclock; especially not for a $70~ cpu.

My shop says only 97s are ready to go from the box, others need a bios flash with the Gs.

Bios flash is easy. Every mobo manufacturer I looked at even has built-in bios-flashing function on the...bios.
