Well they are not AS accurate or controllable as their smaller counterparts. I mean that was a joke question right? Not too mention LMG's do require a bit more maintance since their feeding mechanisms have more moving parts. Then there is the issue of having to change the barrel out whent it gets hot. They are larger and heavier thus limiting your mobility. Because of their higher rate of fire, you tend to go through ammo faster. Which of course means you have to carry more ammo, further limiting your mobility. The larger drum magazines, or belts are bulkier then the simple magazines carried for regular assualt rifles. Need I go on?
No sir, Im sorry sir
Hooah!
....hoorah? oooah?

Meh, nevermind

I hope we have made significant improvements to the LMGs in v0.5. The intent has been to model all weapon systems as accurately as the engine will allow.

Right now in v0.4 they have more of the "balancing" applied to the weapon system than any of the other small arms. But with kit limiting that is the balancer, so we're trying to tweak these to be as powerful a weapon system as their real life counter parts.

I can't 100% say we've fixed it because we just made one more fairly significant change to their behaviours in the v0.504 release candidate. This change was yet another recoil reduction in addition to addressing some slightly buggy behaviours with them we introduced in previous test builds.

So we have one more opportunity to get tester feedback and make some tweaks before release. But they should be much better and I am hoping are spot on for v0.5 release.

Everytime I'm laying there firing an LMG, and it starts kicking to the sky it makes me laugh. I don't use those kits because of that.

huleboeren

I only asked if you were jokin cuz if you were being sarcastic I'd feel much more like an *** explaining it lol.

Even in bursts it's nuts trying to hit something from anything but short distance.

but becuase BF2 engine can only have 1 level of movement for irons sites, wether yuo are lying down or standing up, you cant even properly represent using lying down and firing - increased stability, much smaller movements by iron site i think.

Such of bldy simple thing, almsot as bad a prone spamming.

It means, it appears, on the surface, to the average player, lying down does not have a great increase in accruacy cos iron site moves as much as when fully standing up - peeps know accuracy goes up, but ...phhhoooo

Yeah I was wondering that also, but we were on an airbase... you never know when some hijacked cropduster laden with explosives might make an appearance. TBH there really wasn't much in the way of air defense there. That avenger was part of the MEU we came in with. The whole MEU went, even the elements that weren't used. That way the sailors that took us there on thier ships could go party while we were fighting a war, heaven forbid they have to stick around just in case we needed something.

Well at least they learned from "The Guad" (Guadalcanal). If you are going to abandon your Marine Cargo, at least give them their shit so they don't come back and kick your *** later for it lol.
