I don't get it. Who need more maps when everyone playing mostly Mutrah, Fallujah etc?
[R-DEV]rPoXoTauJIo wrote:That's actually should be doable.
Steps to implement:
1. Heightmap generator. Simple raw greyscale image.
2. Color, lowdetail, detail texture maps. Bunch of dds files + need to reverse materials struct.
3. OG\UG generator needs OG materials struct reversed, otherwise same rgb bunch of dds.
4. Roads generator, need to edit heightmap, textures, and compile dem roads to roadmeshes.
5. Statics generator - format is known, only thing needed is bunch of templates for blocks(partially already in PR for our mappers, caches script)
6. GPO generator - usually being done by meatbags, dont need a script here.
Need more python coders as always.
Ah, yes. There is one with old maps. There is one server using it and it's empty because nobody download that.Tommygun wrote:mapapck....
Why the mappack isn't forced to download..? Maybe then more people would play the mappack mapsrobert357 wrote:Ah, yes. There is one with old maps. There is one server using it and it's empty because nobody download that.
Its a lot of extra gigs.Jacksonez__ wrote:Why the mappack isn't forced to download..? Maybe then more people would play the mappack maps
It's 2017. Don't most people (outside the US) have fiber with unlimited data?[R-DEV]AlonTavor wrote:Its a lot of extra gigs.
A big portion of the PR players that don't live in NA or EU are from third world countries, they have potato computers and internet...PBAsydney wrote:It's 2017. Don't most people (outside the US) have fiber with unlimited data?
Soo, that's the only reason? What a shame.[R-DEV]AlonTavor wrote:Its a lot of extra gigs.
No it isn't.Jacksonez__ wrote:Soo, that's the only reason? What a shame.
100% agree with this, it can be so annoying to find GEM, map packs and HD text on the forums.robert357 wrote:Mappacks and other additional stuff for PR should be in Download section. I probably never know about this if someone wouldn't mention it in random thread. Heck, there are a lot of other useful stuff "hidden" somewhere in the forum.
Not exactly the few people but it takes a lot of background knowledge of how maps should be gameplay wise, coupled with knowledge of the location(if it's in a place on earth etc). From there it is bugs with the editor and what i'm trying to say is basically that everyone can do it, but it can be quite tedious sometimes.Trekkie wrote:It's tough to learn to make maps. Every once in awhile I make a push at it but between the bugs and the research it's not surprising that there's very few people who can actually make maps.
QuickLoad demands moar testers!'[R-CON wrote:Rusty_42;2173287']There is plenty of new stuff, but not enough initiative from testers or testers itself.
You can apply to become tester here, that would actually be helpful.

I actually agree with this, along with Korengal(that map is a bit small though)BubblyNinja wrote:I'd enjoy more maps centered around a more mountainous Afghanistan. Lashkar valley does it well with its downhill and uphill firefights, choke points, numerous cave systems.
