As it stands, it seems like they're more of a threat to YOURSELF as an insurgent then it is to any USMC. I've tossed them up on small roofs with USMC and had direct hits, only to be killed by those same guys seconds later.

posted before but I was told I had **** aim, glad someone else thinks they are too weak. the 1st one smashes ontop of one lying down prone while the other runs through it then he laughs off the 2nd one.
[edit] there was also an instance (I think }{oot may have seen this as we were both defending) at residential where I was on the roof, shot a US soldier, heard a medic go to revive him so threw a molotov which did nothing, the medic couldnt see me and ran to where he thought he was in cover, I threw another molotov at him which exploded in the corner he was prone in and that did nothing either, I ended up shooting him as he still couldnt see where I was.

Being able to actually see the fire would be nice too. lol Sucks walking and all of a sudden lose health for no reason. I'm sure it is gonna be tweaked though.

Yeah. Thanks for changing the icon at least. I can't count how many times I thought I was throwing smoke but then burninated a few squad members.

oops..

uhmmmm.. they´re doin no damage? u can actually destroy an APC with one of those. Just throw it right under the vehicle and watch it explode :P
but still a nice bottle would be nice. although i cant really imagine how this "lightening it up" animation would look. when theres a cocktail thats not burning u gotta do an animation when "you" light it up.... takes time :( and when its already lit ppl start complaining about realism since nobody got burning molotovs in his pocket :P

Dude this thread is from way back when. How can you not tell?

If the Molotovs are so weak...why not give at least one to the Civilian class and NOT allow them to rearm. Might be cool-ish. I'd also like to see the civ's have a slowdown on grabbing rocks...they always find such good rocks SO fast ;)

ps. I'd like to see a pack of civilians tossing molotovs!!

That is being looked into. Will take some time though since someone has to do custom animations for that purpose and that someone is me...

:S
I have to disagree with that on close quarters maps such as the extraction city maps they are deadly i had 2 eenmys throw 2 of them at me the whole area around us was on fire we could not revive our squad and it BBQed us alive.

How effective against vehicles are molotov cocktails in real life? I would say almost zero effect. If I was cruising down the road in my Ford Taurus and someone hit me with a molotov, if it didn't smash through a window I don't see what the threat is. The fire will be outside the vehicle and if I continue driving it should burn itself out fairly quick.

At least, that's what I think would happen.

Unless it acually got tossed in a hatch that was probably caused by a hit from one of the better types of RPG.

I think the molotovs should stick to all cars because the substance(beer, alcohol, w/e) will stay on the car for a bit and be on fire and what not. I liked how they worked in the first build of the beta. The only thing i didn't like was the damage it did to the inside of a APC.

Speaking of Molotov cocktails, is it possible in the near future to see the player models actually burning and see flames coming out of the player model and when they go in water, the flames go away? However, I'm sure that you'd almost be blinded by the flames if you were to find a river or stream of water. Not to mention this sounds hardcoded...

i keep a candle next to my computer. at first it was for the freshness (mmm vanilla honeyburst), but anymore i just use it to burn my arm. take it up a notch. i started to stab myself, for bullets and stuff, but it's really super hard to clean, just fyi

now what i want is something special. say you get 3 cans of gas and 3 molotovs. cans are like mines kind of, except that they're built for burning people and not destroying. each can burns for a half minute, allowing you to funnel infantry down your selected kill zone, or prevent certain foot routes without eyeballing them the entire time. just throw a molotov at the can and grab some popcorn. or, i like to sing to my squadmates.

Even if they don't do a lot of damage, the psychological (I hope I spelled that right) aspect works wonders. I haven't seen anyone voluntarily walking into a blazing inferno yet, even if it wouldn't injure them.

Indeed, they're fantastic area denial weapons. They're great for keeping the enemy out of enterable buildings or for stopping them using certain streets to advance down.
