But most of those in active duty prefer the unarmored version instead of the armored ones. You still have the same engine to deal with a lot more armor. This means less acceleration, less top speed making you an easier target regardless of the armor.
The blast caused by the jet of a heat projectile is still nothing else than a large explosion concentrated on one spot. But there is still a big amount of hot gas that doesn't penetrate the armor or metal and causes splash damage all around the target. I don't think someone would even survive that fireball when inside a hummvee.
