The sounds in PR are pretty good but not wow as far as I'm concerned. Gun shots sound much different depending on if you have ear plugs in, not only as far as loudness, where you are relative to the muzzle (behind, to the side, infront) and where you are and whats around you. Firing an AR and then standing next to someone shooting it produce two totally different sounds.

Yes sound in all games is lacking and what I don't get is how can you record real sounds and play them back (say an auto race) and it sounds great but in a game it sounds like shit?

Just to clarify I was talking about IRL not ingame sound issues. The sounds in game are pretty good for a game.

I have Audigy 2 card and surround sound headphones, or I can use the onboard 5.1 sound which sounds the same as the SB card.

I love the sound in this game, woo, Im even thankful

Once in Oman i was sniping with my squad on the bottom of hotel capping the flag,

Then this one guy came up and tried to knife me, if it wasn't for the awesome EAX sound i would have never have heard that guy crouching by

Sin, isn't going to help much, if you don't have a soundblaster card, you won't hear how cool it is ;)

Also, the first time I played PR, I was amazed by the sounds. Then, I got a Soundblaster card and a sweet headset, and I was amazed again. The sounds in this game rock.

A nice Head Set

works like a dream

i have a $30 Microsoft voice chat and its a beauty.

im planing on getting a more expensive pair in a few months

But yep they work great, i dont have a good speaker system just 2 things that i hear the Picard Song with.

And i don't use my speakers while in playing PR because i have Vista (FTL) and it doesn't let you do that.

Soundbaster what? X-Fi? Because I have a sound blaster audigy 2 card and I'm not wowed and I can hear footsteps with no problems, hearing foot steps is pretty much a must have tool esp on maps like metista.

Because as sofad mentioned earlier, sound is never the same.

You can stand in the same spot and fire a gun twice, with time for echo and what not to settle in between, and you won't hear the same sound. You may consider it the same, but its slightly different.

Modeling can be done with real proportions, those are a constant. Sound, however, is always changing.

How a game sounds is the deciding factor on the immersivity level. If you set your graphics to really low, but had super high + realistic sounds, it would be wayyyy more immersive than ultra graphics but dull sounds.

Thats the truth right there. So great job PR sound crew, your doing excellent work!

As far as I'm concerned, as long as you have a great subwoofer and that PR sound shakes your whole house on startup of BF2, I'm sold. : )

Yeah, and the BSS logo too. I remember my first time when I launched PR, it was like "Oh boy oh boy oh boy *BANG!!!!* *me laying on the floor*"
