Well, we aren't dropping a cluster bomb here*. It is just projecting a projectile with a heat signature onto a target. If I remember correctly, the Insurgent Incendiary Grenades do the same thing and they don't cause massive lag. Of course, they don't move, but a sticky projectile could work, just as much as C4 and SLAMs stick, the heat signature would follow it.
The only reason it's in the SP forums is that most SP players lost faith in the human player populace and don't think there are many people willing to throw their rifle over their shoulder and take out their SOFLAM so some aircraft whore can get another kill.
*The Cluster Bomb was made by SatNav, a skilled modder that made the custom weapons in the M82 kit and the M40A3(If I remember correctly haven't played in a bit.) sniper rifle used in Project Reality. The cluster bomb wouldn't work in multilayer because of the way it generates the "clusters".

Alpha Wolf, you already made that suggestion, and I don't really see how it adds anything to this thread.

I have seen a youtube vid with green smoke used to mark a British friendly position during an airstrike exercise, when presumably the SOP of the exercise was established to confirm this indicator.
From the US Army Board Tranining Manual:-
"M18 Colored
Color/Markings: Olive drab body with the top
Usage: Used as a ground-to-ground smoke indicating the smoke color or ground-to-air signaling device, a target or landing zone marking device, or a screening device for unit movements.
I'm still looking for army doctrine standards to confirm common usage of each colour, looking for serving soldiers help here..

i like the idea becuase the SL could say-"smoke at that 2 story house, Green." And he could launch it there. Then its aa rally point. Also the Bombing run targets. It can be used for alot of things.
