it seems to be that we got different versions what the players now hear in a armoured vehicle and what not.

we are trying to sort out in the moment if its a soundcard and/or a speakerproblem, or maybe a software problem is.

you could help us, if you report what you experience inside armoured vehicles and tell us also your audio gear and the settings you use ingame.
i will start a corresponding thread in the feedbacksection right after writing this.

thnx for your help.

edit:

Everyone remember that not hearing a tank shell/AT round hitting your tank is a problem with the server not registering the sound/effect of the shot in the first place.

The problem here is that there was a bunch of problems etc that were already there in which people are now saying is related to the vehicle sound obstruction change I made. The whole idea of the change was immersion and to allow for improved communication between tank/helo/jet crewman/pilots. That said, if some people are not hearing engine sounds at all then we have a hardware related problem which definitely needs solving. So please post in the thread sofad specified.

You should hear every single sound you could before except heavily muffled/obscured. The exception being 1st person sounds which are left unaltered.

Of course, because E-Gor doing 5/6 different patch builds, dbzao doing hundreds of python updates, myself having to constantly update the test server with new code, testers reporting constant bugs.......all of that means nothing because this team doesn't "test before the release of an update"........

I wonder if any of you worked inside ships engine room. I did. The noise level inside engine room (while the main engine is runnig) is aroud 80-90 db, it is less than noise of working turbine engine used in jet planes/helicopters (100-120 db). Personlly I'm using Peltor optime III ear protection (it looks like headphones). Believe me, if you are wearing one of these inside an engine room while the main engine is running you are able to hear every god damn hammer, wrench, screw or even nut accidently droped on the floor plate.

>>>Ear protection is not canceling noise down to zero! It lowers noise level beyond the level of hearing damage!<<<

Thats why you can hear every loud sounds around vehicle (engine, tracks, rotor, bullets/shells/missiles/rockets hitting vehicle, explosions, turret turning mechanisms, using main gun/coax mg/.50 cal mg/rifle/pistol/missiles/rockets).

There are technologies that can lower noise almost down to zero level, but nobody want to install that kind of devices inside a vehicle, because hearing how the vehicle sounds is the first sign for experienced crew about any malfunctions.
fuzzhead;489463']disagree about engine noises.
I am not saying the engine noises should be as loud as they were in .609. You should at least hear a little bit of whir or RPM cues in the background. Not so much that it interferes with VOIP though. People that play with loud speakers are at fault anyways.
IMHO The engine noises are just about right, although I would support a slight increase in their volume just because we lack other forms of tactile feedback.
Exactly.

I'm not a fan of the new muffled vehicle noises. It sounds like my vehicle is underwater.

It's hardware related. I tested this with 4/5 other testers but it's just coincidence that they all got the intended results. Certain people are hearing little/no 3p sounds and that is a big problem.

For not trying to offend you are doing a rather good job of it.

Reason number one why bugs slip through the net is that this is a free game and the devs and testers do this on their free time.
They don't have the backing of multimillion dollar corporations keeping them in hardware and officehours to work in.

Reason number two is that this mod and the underlying game, BF2, are rather complex and have to work together in a very coordinated manner. The testers and ofcourse the Devs know how to set their machines up to achieve the best results. That means they rarely get to see or hear the minor bugs until it's too late.

Reason number three is the number of testers, location of testers and availability to test. They all have real lives to live, school or work to attend so some preoccupation is bound to happen.

Reason number four, testing is not as exact a science as it may appear.

Now, just enjoy the mod, or come up with some constructive criticism rather than bashing the testers.

Thank you.

Actually i dont blame devs for the sound bug since when usually testing we tend to look out more for major bugs and probably visual ones also since these are more outstanding and easier to spot. The sound on the other hand i think isnt that much of a trouble and minor bugs may be irritating but at least we still get to play and don't get random crashes which i feel is worse.
Now this is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. But it is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

Well this sound stuff is bad because the old sound for the A10 in Al Basrah was incredible.

I like the idea of these new sounds, but they 'hurt' my ears and make my brain go weird... :D
