Efficent particle rendering is a dx10 thing and this game wont do it well because its dx9 anyway, I think.

I think just having the dust created now last longer is the better option.

Next time your driving a tank with high settings, swing the view to the rear and do maximum zoom and see what your fps is.
Im running a x1950pro and it still wont display that properly, more dust is not a great idea

yea , also make respawn times of 9 months and make maps of 10000 km 2 , 10km of view distance ,etc,etc..

There is a game out there now thats like this. It can take months for you to walk to the front line and this is a game played online.

Instead of multiple maps they just play through the whole of europe during ww2. I forget the name of it but its been going a while now :p

Oh I know the game it's not out yet but it's realistic in pretty much every way! Pr should switch.

the map is the whole of europe, 250,000 PEOPLE! 256 players I believe rest bots. Realistic weapon and vehicle handeling, realstic hit system weather system, physics system, and 100% destroyable enviroments besides the ground up to 5-10 feet. =) go check it out.

And yet the Veterans say that that was a rediculously small amount of dust. They wet the ground for the movie so you could actually see the actors in the movie.

would it be possible to just make bigger particles and keep the particle count roughly the same?

yea would be good on desert maps but you would have to be careful so it wouldnt effect infantry all of the time and on all maps, eg ur on assault on mestia and u can see a dust cloud comin at you thru the trees :P

sounds awsome..but from what i read on the link its not the whole of europe..just the beach landings and areas around normandy. and u can get up to 128 players. more info would be good cos it sounds amazing!

i have 1 word LAG
