Sometimes when I talk to someone on the phone or whatnot while playing the game, I press my teamspeak button

I don't have to be embarassed. I just say "sorry, been a soldier too long" and I get the sympathy

I wound up meeting a Brigadier General in LAX airport by replying "affirmative" to a question my colleague asked me over lunch.

[R-MOD]Masaq wrote:Thanks to SJA and PR I've also done a couple of them over the phone as well - "Mum, this is Alex, are you receiving me over?" was how one memorable phone call back to my folks started. I also ended a call to a girlfriend once with "Love you, control standing by". (That was weird).
That's freaking fantastically funny!

I'm sure that makes for interesting times.
Personally, no PR leaks, but I used to say things like "heavy fire, left" when I played Halo 2 with my friends. I'm the military one of the group, but they still thought it was weird...

I was opening a mouse that was in one of those terribly made plastic boxs, that are near impossible to open, i wasn't thinking and cut towards myself and ended up with a layer of skin missing off my index finger, I immediately asked my friend in the other room if he had any field dressings.

I got up from bed when I had the flu, my vision was all blurry and there is work being done at my house so I thought I was being shot at. I hid behind my bedroom wall and when my roommate found me he shouted GO GO GO! and I ran into a wall lol.

I find myself using the "teamspeak button" even if I'm not in game or on the phone. I've had a co-worker ask me a question while standing behind me, and I press my teamspeak button to answer him. Then we have a laugh, cause he plays PR as well.

I think most stories here are either made up or simply exaggerated...
If you were a real soldier and had those type of behaviours and thoughts you wouldn't be that happy about them.
I do however keep searching for cool abandoned places everywhere i look because of playing Airsoft and that is mostly involuntary. Same happens with escape routes, lines of fire and tactical manouvers that eventually pop into my head from time to time, concerning whatever surrounds me at the moment.
Some games just have a bigger impact on one's mind but no computer game will ever give you war syndrome.
Airsoft is alot like PR, the difference is where you "stand". Both search for Realism, Military Simulation and Tactical Teamplay but would you switch from your comfortable chair to a walk on the mud?
I know i do!
