VoIp.
And I agree with the vision thing, but it's not like you were seeing the enemies on your minimap, you still had to turn to the right to see what was happening. It's the same thing without a minimap...

wow, in that case we better just give up making the game as realistic as possible.

They have them on their person, not in front of there face at all times
It'll create a great new heightened sense of being in a combat zone. When I played (BAD EXAMPLE

paintball, I would ALWAYS be terribly unaware of where the hell my own guys and the enemy were. I think this needs to be replicated
Im excited about the gameplay it will bring. Being lost in a huge city and not really knowing what roads lead where without pulling out your map (that takes a few seconds to pull up, btw)
Welcome change in my opinion! yay!

Ummmm.... VOIP? TS? Theres little excuse for only relying on the "7" phrases. Besides, only 7 phrases is not terribly accurate...

people forget that squads dont allow 32 players.

The map is still staying. You can always open it up whenever you feel like it. And you still have the minimap when your in a jet. Whats the problem...?

I don't like the new changes, situation awareness is an important aspect of combat, and with the minimap gone, it will decrease a bit. But I do have faith in the DEVs, they think this stuff through a lot before proceeding. Should be interesting

actually it plays quite different than before and IMO increases your immediate situational awareness...you really know where you are visually.. which is actually quite cool and you start to take note to more details than you did before...
IMO of course...
once you get used to it..you stop looking to the minimap and start using your eyes...

yeah or getting completely *** backwards in a city cause of it...or perhaps a sewer system or a big forest etc...epic!

hmm i think it would be even better if only squad leaders got a main map with positions of everything, i dont really think that every guy on the battle feild would have a map with up to date positions of troops and tanks, ect.

Sounds reasonable
But unfortunately your view is fixated on a 90 degree angle, in other words, your monitor, which means you have to turn your character in all sorts of directions to tell what's going on around you. Pretty much what I was trying to get at. Anywho... getting lost on the map thing does sound pretty epic

lol before when some guy TKed me i'd yell at him "CHECK YOUR MINIMAP GODAMIT"(specially when i had a sniper). and now, i cant
anyways, imo its going to increase the rate of teamkilling

I think its a good and realistic change. Sure it will cause increased TKs in the short run but it isnt terribly real.
As a soldier moves about a combat environment and engages and is engaged, can he see a GPS of the area he is in, at all times? No, only when he takes out time to look ta the damn thing.
...mongol...

I'm glad they've made this change, it will help stop people from overspotting without actually spotting anything, and catching something in the direction they spotted in...

The minimap was realistic to me as it reflected the compressed time frame we operate the games in.
Its normal to always know where other squads are and its perfectly normal for an army to keep track of its own units and even try the same with the enemy
I dont know if you guys are taking your military knowledge from tv shows but you rarely know the exact position of other units. We usually just get an estimate of where our guys should be via designated routes and the trusty radio. Some of the older guys in my unit said that in the first couple days of Phantom Fury they were stalled because the majority of the other platoons got lost or cut off. By what Ive heard and experienced you really dont know where the rest of the guys are, only where they should be. The only people that do know is command and not the normal ground pounder.

it's not the time to b1tch about it, it's time to by
HAPPY!
ZOMFG! I CAN'T BELIEVE IT
FINALY HAPPENED! XD
I played without the mini for months, but it was fked up cos I couldn't see the names of the flags, and who is driving... eventualy, it led to not helping my squad buddies 100%, so I had to turn it on.
Focking awesome... still can't believe it... No more popping out of a squadleaders butt, and no more *21st century warefare* gadget... Amazing.
Can't wait to play 0.7.
PS. I can't stop laughing thinking about the guys who are, like, "WTF?????? :O NO MINIMAP?????!?!?!?!

"
EDIT: Btw, I believe I read somewhere about caps lock map being DELAYED 1 SECOND, but I can't find where... it this is true, than... boy oh boy...

It will all get down to what you see for yourself, and what you can hear from your squadmates.

I still think the 'M' map should show a map without any troops, vehicles etc.
The 'Capslock' map should show your own squad.
That would be so awesome

i agree but i think the M map should only show squad member's in your squad and other squad Leaders only.
lone wolfs would suffer do to there not by there squad Leader.
but i like the no M map if were going out of game play for Real Life.
