How about - if killed by enemy or self (ie, crashed) very quickly (under 2 mins, say) - the vehicle gets a short respawn while the players get a respawn longer than the vehicle's -> stops the player coming straight back and grabbing it.

It would need to be different for a teamkilled vehicle - otherwise you could TK a chopper with C4 and know that the pilots weren't going to be coming back in time to stop you getting it. Would promote smacktardery.

i like it :D sick of people wasting the most important vehicles (air assets)

Well observed Masaq. I tought something similar to that (a shoter time for vehicles, longer for the bad pilot). But I didn't think about someone put C4 on the vehicle, blow up it and get then.

But I belive the engine can distinguish between a crash from a TK.

Except that good pilots already know that the most effective way to use the aircraft is to keep it airborne as long as possible.

Personally, I'm a fan of this, but only if it can be programmed to happen only if the vehicle self-destructs (ie: not if Nooby McNoobster flies it right into the sights of an enemy AA emplacement, only if he flips it over and explodes), and there should be a serious penalty for being the pilot of said aircraft. Say 60-90 second spawn time, on top of the suicide.

Good idea. This will keep a n00b from flying the Huey on Operation Archer straight into the mountain following takeoff and stranding the team.

That's a great idea Masaq, wish I had your brains. Definitely like it. I don't know if spawn times can be changed on the fly, but your idea seems like a good way to punish the player without punishing the team.

i think when you enter an aircraft you have to awnser several questions about flying it:

1. how does one take off?
2. how long is the warm up time?
3. will taking off striaght from the hanger work?
4. are you a noob pilot?
5. how does one land?
6. what do the elevators do?
7. what do the flaps do?
8. how does one taxi?

these questions can be done in warm up, but i dont know how they could be implamented.

Ingame questions and answers? Very~~ unlikely. I think they should reduce the spawntime
in overall like 10min or 15min and on top of that you need a speficic badge you can earn with something otherwise you cant fly

But I hope it wouldn't give license for n00bs to practice their flying for the first time on a full server.
Maybe its possible to have a player who crashers an aircfaft in less then 3 minutes get banned from requesting a pilotkit for lets say 10 min but this is only if they actually crash it not if they get baseraped, TKed etc. So basically only if they die not if they get killed. This should be possible to code since the same thing happens if you TK but then it bans you from all the kits for 3 minutes.

@Masaq how about you make the unable to request kits instead of the longer respawn time. For example: A guy crashes a chopper under 2 min the next chopper spawns in 30 sec so does the guy but he cant request a kit for 3 min.

Good idea markonymous !!!! :D

Insted of make a longer respawn time, make the messer wait longer for the pilot kit.

I'm putting it on my first post

Safekeeper wrote: On the surface, yes. And I do like the idea, but it won't be the miraculous gain you're hoping for.
I respectfully disagree. Four out of five helo crashes( and jets too) at take-off (that I see) are a result of not allowing the engine to reach speed. They roll over or flip right on the pad, and the jets cant create the lift needed and crash at the end of the runway.
This is a result of not having knowledge of the aircraft....ultimately from not having read the manual.
Reading the manual not only gives flight knowledge, but obviously info about the entire game.
Safekeeper wrote: Unless, of course, you randomized which answer went to which question, but then they'd just post answers in their entirety and the other n00bs would just hurriedly input answers without turning their brains on and forget about them the next second.

You can't mod the players.
I proposed randomization of the questions/ answers as well as rewording a few.
Even if the answers are posted somewhere....they still would have to read those questions and match them with the appropriate answer....hopefully they retain that info.

heres a solution, and let me know how you feel about it.

What if at the bottom of the manuel, or an un-obvious place on the wiki, there were four 4 digit number codes. and if you were a good pilot you would have done your investigating and discovered the codes, where is the obviously new people wouldnt have a clew.

so when they jump in the jet and dont have the keypad ignition lock password, the jet wont start, and if they havnt entered it within 30 seconds they TK themselves. :D

and to find the passwords, you gotta read the manuel in full. And even if they did ask for them in the server chat, only a few would discover, and nobody likes a person whos gonna waste a gunship or jet do they.

Sorry, I know that is an old thread, but I belive that there are more possibilities to talk about.
