is this a quiestion because of bare interest or what should it help you?
concerning waterplanes again : when doubleklicking an object you can see its coordinates and can manually adjust them. so if you want to stop the flickerring and want the planes to align perfet just enter the same y-coordinate for all of them (height) and the work on the x and z coordinates so that everything fits well.
No Ive not asked that question several times - I asked a similar question once, but not the same
Im not sure your right either, Ive read several posts on other forums where experienced mappers have mentioned keeping the static count down to lower loading times and decrease lag - I just wanted a better idea of how it works, so I could minimise loading and lag on my map. I realise that the static only get drawn when theyre in view, but are they loaded into RAM or somethig at the level start so that theyre "ready" to be drawn are are they accessed from the harddrive when needed. What youre saying is you could have every static available on your map, and as long as theyre not viewed at the same time, it wont affect fps or loading times?
Also the waterplane flickering or vibrating was at the water edge - so its nothing to do with aligning the waterplanes ( which I know how to do thanks )- its where the terrain meets the waterplane. Ive sorted it now anyway - I just needed to make the banks slightly steeper and its mostly gone. The same problem is apparent on some other maps if you look closely.
