Like I said, the problem with giving the crippled, door-breaching shotgun to the Engineer kit is that they're never around in places where you need them most.
I don't care about the shotgun itself, but availability can be a problem. How about giving the current shotgun to the 'Ammo Rifleman' as well as the Engineer? At any rate, this would combine the incentive of open sights in an urban setting with the ability to breach the doors that will be so common when 0.8 arrives.

I think the shot gun needs a spread raduis instead of just one bullet... The shot gun could be exxellent for clearing buildings if it had the same effect as in real life.

I shoot competitive trap shooting, yes it does use bird/buck shot, but even with regular shot we still hit a pigeon roughly the size of a flat baseball at ranges of up to 16-70(see pic) yards, depending on your skill and reaction time but the spread of the shot increases with range and the clay target is easily destroyed. Now a slug is well a large slug of lead that takes up the space of the shot in the shell, they are packed with more combustible powder and the velocity of a slug shot is much more greater than normal. Out of a smooth bore barrel shotgun (most civilian models)slugs are accurate to about 100 yards, and can deliver some serious damage. Military and Police use rifled shot gun barrels which can hugely increase the accuracy and range of a shotgun, now throw in Saboted shells and you have damn near come close to rifle range. Now in law enforcement they tend to use special breaching rounds that upon coming in contact with the knob/lock they pretty much vaporize and become harmless, the military probably uses bird shot due to the fact that buck shot and slugs can give the risk of ricochets and secondary damage to the shooter, also they have a less risk of trouble with someone on the other side getting hurt. So the shotguns need to be defined by devs for what their purpose is and so they can get an accurate depiction of how it would handle in game.
