They don't have the same shotguns...but they are all the exact same.
I believe that all the forces whould use....how do I say this....SHOTGUN SHELLS!!!!!!!!
This whole bs about the shotguns using 1 shot is just....CMON!
The shotgun is mean to fire shotgun shells, but this single shot thing is stupid, the point of having shotguns in armies is so that the shotguns can kill at close range by filling the victim with buckshot, not make a SHOTGUN a rifle with a pistol calibur and make it semi-automatic.....thats just a waste of money, why would the armies of the world revert back to a bolt action rifle with a tiny calibur.

This is possibly me being wrong but don't most forces use a larger load than buckshot?'[=TC= wrote:nuetron;705899']They don't have the same shotguns...but they are all the exact same.

Because it is not meant for infantry combat in PR... It is meant for door breaching.'[=TC= wrote:nuetron;705899']They don't have the same shotguns...but they are all the exact same.

...All shotguns use shotgun shells, just not all of them are filled with buckshot. The point of THESE shotguns is for breaching, which means they should realistically be loaded with breaching shot but that could be rather effective against infantry, making the mock slug a far better choice for game play reasons.'[=TC= wrote:nuetron;705899']

That must be one hell of a pistol if it's firing a 12 gauge slug. Also, I can't quite figure out what the hell you're trying to say in the rest of your post, you may want to take another stab at it.

Ah so this is why you can't aim using the ghost ring sight! I always thought that was bit silly and wanted the shotgun to be done away with, but I guess it makes sense, especially when armed with a rifle too. Are there any maps on the current release that have breachable doors?

Re: the shot gunz
Shotguns are usually used for breaching IRL, not quite for CQB combat (at least with traditional forces)
But the shotty should be taken out if the only thing it can destroy is those planks around ejod (and someother maps) just takes up space.

Yeah I was kinda disappointed, I haven't needed to breach a single door yet.

Re: the shot gunz
I'm sure the devs are working on doors, or they wouldnt have included the breaching shotgun. I even think there is something like a door on .. ah, forgot the name now, the mountain-insurgency-map, in the air control tower on the airport in the north east on the map. Or maybe thats supposed to be something else - sadly the map is lacking shotguns^^

Two problems with this:
1) FH2 actually has networkable doors (i.e. doors that can be opened with the "E" key), but I'm not sure whether these can be breached if they can also be opened.
2) Most of the times a player needs a door breached, there are no Engineers around, because everyone has chosen Rifleman Optics, Auto Rifleman, or Medic on an urban map, being that there's little to repair and nobody expects to breach doors.
Knowing this, just add those shotgun iron sights that are 2 years overdue. Even if the intended use is door breaching, any real shotgun would have usable open sights - less than optimal against an enemy with an assault rifle, but not as difficult to kill with as it is in PR now.

Re: the shot gunz
In PR now they are not supposed to be weapons to kill with, and will probably not be again in the future, because they are (I know, no source, but thats what I think the Dev's thought) not used like that often in real life.
Right now, the shotguns do incredible damage, compared to a real breaching shotgun, and would be accurate if you had ironsights, and would be too good compared with other CQB-Weapons such as submachineguns. So either they shoot buckshot again and get ironsights - which would probably be not realistic enough anymore - or they stay inaccurate to simulate them using not really slugshot ammunition, but special breaching ammunition - asumed that exists, like i said, no sources.

The slug doesn't have that much gun powder..in essence it is ~ as powerful as a sidearm round. It is more accurate since it goes down a longer barrel, but it is like a more accurate pistol round.
being a 12gauge has absolutley nothing to do with it since it is BIGGER and has LESS gun powder, it is much slower, it is even worse than a pistol round except at short range where it blows apart tissue, bones, and muscle...but a pistol can do that also. Is what I was trying to say.
Plus you don't need to make a NEW type of pistol ammo to make a type of ammunition that the military only uses to blow down a door and then uses the type of munition that was already ingame...especially since the "door busting ammo" does not knock down any doors, the BF2 engine won't allow you to blow down a door.
You can open it by hitting "E"
or you can walk in because the door is open always.
This ammo cannot knock door any doors ingame, if it can than that whole last part was wrong and I will admit it, if you can show me video of somebody(in 0.7) blowing down a door with the special Shotgun ammo.

Did someone say mass x acceleration = force? A shotgun slug would cause MUCH more damage than a pistol round - any pistol round - at short range, where shotties are meant to be used.'[=TC= wrote:nuetron;707014']

Being a 12G has everything to do with it.
A bit more reading for those interested:
Shotgun slug - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
(note the bit where it says "...the slugs will provide accuracy sufficient for antipersonnel use out to ranges about 100 yards (90 meters)."
Shotgun Slugs
Note the "The 12 gauge slug has an advertised muzzle velocity (MV) of 1560 fps from a 2 3/4" high-brass shell, 1680 fps from a 2 3/4" Magnum shell, or 1760 fps from a 3" Magnum shell."
More guns and bullets make bad guys go away faster,
which in turn makes everyone in the area safer.

Oh, and since when can a pistol blow apart bones?
"especially since the "door busting ammo" does not knock down any doors, the BF2 engine won't allow you to blow down a door."
It's not Door busting ammo, it's just a slugshot. And yes, it does knock down doors, just not the one currently in PR. Wait for .8..
Please, EVERYBODY, what you say, needs to be proved.
