Its not that i got anything against Off map support, but i just want to be the guy to shoot of that weapon... I dont want this turning into some strategy game where you call in off map support... Its the player, and the players skill and the teams skill that determine how much effect a weapon should have on the enemy... Thats war gentlemenn... And thats PR

You would need 3. Commander Squadleader/SPECOPS and PILOT

Why waste time, when you can just as easily to it from off the map?

MOstly the guys on the battlefield gets bomb support from another team on most part therefore it would be mostly dumb to have all support to be player based.

I found this sentence quite funny and since this is a war game forum I will put it here. No offense to the french just a good laugh.

hmm...is it posible to make the mortar a vehicle and when you press "E" at it, you can pick it up and walk away with it?

Re: Mortar Team As A Limited Kiit For Insurgents?
We dont need mortars taking up another 2-4 men when we only have 32 avalible. What we need is more frequent area attacks.
For example the artillery strike, this would require probably about 5 M-109 howitzers

(or some kind of towed artillery)
now if you moved 5 of these into a position ready for an attack, (they would also require AA support and defense probably from tanks) why would your fire them once every hour??
that would be such a stupid waste of resources.
same goes for mortars if you had several mortar teams set up, why would you only call it in once every hour?
in my opinion
JDAM can stay at one hour but id like to see it lower
Artillery should be 10-20mins
Mortars 10-15mins
also it would be cool to have the ability to call in an MLRS strike every 45mins or so.
of course not much of this will happen in "Project Nerf Everything (except the AA)"

Artillery would be miles away from the battle, shown by off-map support. Mortars too an extent would be away, depending on their size. I agree though, times need to be shortened. There is a difference between like 2(?) mins of vBF2 artillery spam, and 20 mins waiting for artillery. It wouldn't be spammy, and would be very useful.
It would also make the CO job a lot more interesting.

Some people enjoy being support. When an insurgent picks up a machine gun thats what he usually becomes. Same with mortars. Plus you cannot always reply on the commander. Sometimes you need a more rapid response.
Seems some people havn't learned to read yet. Quoting the already suggested suggestions post is all very well, but make sure you read the end of the OP first. Otherise you just look like an idiot. Quote where it says mortars as a limited kit is if you think Im wrong.

Its says mortars, which would cover all variants of mortars...Meester wrote:Quote where it says mortars as a limited kit is if you think Im wrong.
Its been suggested hundreds of times in lots of different forms (limited kits, spawn kits, deploayble CO asset etc) for years:

Re: Mortar Team As A Limited Kiit For Insurgents?
I really like this idea. I would like to see one mortar carrying kit that deploys and aims the weapon, and a normal insurgent that pops the rounds in.
A small 50mm mortar wouldnt be overpowered. The rounds go a long way, but with the right deviation coding to give less and less likely hits beyond 500m it could be great....
Korengal would be too small, but for some of the larger maps like feyzabad and Sangin I think these are an essential weapon for the insurgents.
I also think with 4km maps in the works for insurgents, this discussion is worth looking at again.

How has this thread lasted longer than my almost-resuggestion about requestable parachutes?
Anyway, I like it, but good luck keeping the discussion open.
