or they could be trained to shoot you in the face? That's what they are doing now. A 7.62 through the mouth and your upper spine will mess up your day, even if you only have your head sticking out the top of an M1 Abrams.
If the soldier models are re-done (would be cool imo) then in the interests of gameplay, each loadout would still have the same armour 'grade' as their opposition's equivelant

Kinda funny you mention this because surfing through ebay the other day I saw this'[R-DEV wrote:Gaz']or they could be trained to shoot you in the face? That's what they are doing now. Thats the whole idea. Soldiers with assault rifles are usually not comming to ask you for a cup of sugar. Why do so many swat and police and military like to wear ski masks? Its not because they dont want to be id (that a bonus) its intimidating.trogdor1289 wrote:If i saw marines or Delta force who were coming to rescue me say wearing that or if i was Ejod say i would run the other way they probaly look like Jason with assualt rifles when they're wearing those.

Edit* My point of masks being scary didn't really come across right...

Another benefit of wearing a mask is not having to put on camoflage... but yea- it sure makes a striking first impression.
That mask has two serious drawbacks: It's propably heavy as hell
It will hamper breathing.
Now show me a nice mile jogging wearing that thing in addition to your gear...
During recon we rarley wore our helmets. Two reasons for this: first- they are bulk and weight you don't wan't on you when you make a run.
second- if you are discovered that helmet will not save you.
I don't know the latest on body armor, but on the video shown to us, a 5.56mm Nato round went through a kevlar vest over balistic jelly without bothering to stay long inside... are there pic's on from these armors ?
On the issue of balancing: Sad but true, forces show very different degree of protection for their soldiers. This might unbalance the game if not countered by something else - like ticket cost maybe. Add up the value of all the gear the different classes carry around with them and add something for their training (UK/US soldiers definitly have more expensive training then... lets say... 'afrikan resistance fighters'
Add it all up and divide it to receive the ticket loss each death takes.

when you shoot body armour it puts a fair dent in you so getting shot in the head could cause some serious dimples.

Man I never said it was practical just that it is out there. And dimple would be a hell of a lot better than missing pieces of your face.
HOWEVER back to the original thread.
This is what is issued to Marines.
A pack (unrealistic except for possibly the small patrol pack)
An Interceptor Vest (flack jacket) almost all of them in theatre right now are tan.
*note* ALMOST all Marines have SAPI plates (either level 3 or 4), and most people wear their collars, throat protectors, and groin protectors.
An LBV (either tan or woodland)
Lightweight Helmet (or MITCH helmet if you are one of the cool guys) w/ a reversible cover
Ballistic Classes / Goggles (however the smart guys wear ANSI rated sun glasses)
Magazine pouches (for whatever weapons you have) including grenade pouches
Canteens
First Aid kit
Neck Gator (offers no protection except from the cold)
Gloves (both leather and warm ones)
Camel Backs
Depending on the mission and the unit they may have NVGs
Gas Mask w/ carrier (SHOULD ALWAYS WORN / CARRIED)
(NOT ISSUES BUT ALMOST ALWAYS WORN)
Elbow and knee pads
Also a lot of Marines go to one of the gear stores and get cool guy gear that fits their specific job (most have different rigs for different missions i.e. chest rigs for convoys, three point slings for patrols)
I am sure there is more but I can’t think of it now and I am NOT going to my garage (that place is scary).
Sorry if this is a double post but would it be possible to have the characters change uniform for the location of the map (desert for the desert maps, woodland for the green ones)?

Hehe funny that if you look at the original picture psted.... it's like the USMC has no class limits either.... I see 3 SAWs and 1 AT4 (with an unrecognizable rifle).
The guy with the AT4 is probably a Medic
We're gonna get the UK guys done before we revisit anything else. That said, we'll be making class system changes that may require the introduction of new weapons and such, but it will be some time before we get to a sweeping aesthetic overhaul of the other armies.
