Re: Vehicle Armor Strength & Round lethality

Almost on the topic, what gives with the BTR-60's?
In quite a few sessions on Muttrah City me and fellow Perkeleet squad members have been wreaking havoc to the American LAV's, usually knocking out both of them with a single BTR, and with considerable ease I might add. This is not to boast our skills as crewmen, but rather to stress that the BTR has been positively murdering any opposition on Muttrah.
Now, just a moment ago I had a rather cold revelation on Tactical Gamer (still sorry for it, chaps). The map being Jabal, fueled by our ongoing successes I whipped our APC crews to confidently engage the very same LAV's with the very same barrage of 14,5mm lead, only to unload four or five 50-round belts into a single LAV before getting killed by the same vehicle. And no, we weren't crewing the initial BRDM armored car, but the same, full-blown honking APC we've been using on Muttrah lately.
Judging by the posts made by others, this wasn't a one time, lag or whatever influenced incident, but more of a gameplay decision. As such I'd like to ask for a confirmation if this really is so, and much appreciate the reasoning behind it as well. I could imagine it's there to actually allow the U.S. even a landing on Jabal, but couldn't the same goal be achieved by fewer APC's for the MEC forces?
I don't consider myself quick to complain about things, but APC X killing APC Y on map A, but not doing a scratch on map B just doesn't go down for me very well.
