Vehicle Armor Strength & Round lethality
First off, my applause to the creators of the new T-72 model. It's reduced silhouette really gives the opposition a run for their lives, especially on Kashan Desert.
However, I have come to notice that the armor strength of vehicles seems to be at the wrong end of the spectrum. I feel that certain rounds, particularly Sabot and Heat rounds, aren't doing enough damage.
Examples:
1- A BMP-3 took four sabot rounds from less than 400 meters. The hits consisted of 2 side armor hits, 1 rear armor hit, and 1 rear turret hit. Considering the BMP-3 has a max 35mm of armor (wikipedia), it should only take a max of 1 sabot round to destroy it from any direction.
2- A repair truck took 2 heat rounds from 150 meters out. Both in the side. Doesn't seem very accurate.
3- An accurate portray, I think, is the destructive power of the tow missiles that are on the Bradley and BMP-3.
4- Another is tanks taking 3-4 shots in the side armor and rear armor from sabot rounds. I've experienced this many times vs. all of the tank variants.
I feel that the lethality of these rounds should be increased. Armor strength of 2 rounds for front armor, 1-2 for side depending on impact angle, and 1 for rear for tanks is good.
I am asking that others who post in this thread; log similar experiences regarding round lethality vs. vehicle armor, armor strength suggestions, and keep it on topic. Don't want the same topic wandering discussion here that happened in the "MBT Balancing" thread.
Keep up the awesome work Black Sands.

Seems like a hitbox error, no APC takes more than one SABOT round to the side or rear and lives, I don't think they can take a SABOT anywhere and live. You may be missing the target even if it shows you're hitting.

Tirak is surely right in saying it was a poor hitbox, as I've killed APCs (BMP-3s namely) with a single shot to the front, though it took a few seconds before it blew up.
Same with the truck, which shouldn't even take a single HEAT round and live.

Even when your hitboxes are fine it's important to remember that allot of the vehicles in PR are stronger that their real life counterparts for balance.
Also for the truck, I'm not sure but I think I saw something in the change log about making hits to the canvas not cause damage or something.

WEAPONS: RPG-7 projectiles now do half the damage as conventional L-AT. (jaymz)
That change was made, but then I reverted it to be 70% just before the release. I didn't enter a log message because I was in a hurry (I was doing loads of different changes/fixes at the time). I probably should have entered a log message to avoid all this confusion

Yes, RPG7 does 70% damage of a conventional L-AT, not 70% less

Re: Vehicle Armor Strength & Round lethality
Well, I guess it comes down to Balance. Are we and the Devs satisfied that the proper balance is achieved? Only proper analysis and reporting like in this thread can help evaluate the situation.
I don’t know if it’s Armor that has been enhanced or weapons that were toned down. We know for a fact that RPG’s were lowered.
I for myself on Falluja shot an APC with an RPG, 2 Rear armor hits, no kill, smoking, I finished it with a 3rd rocket on its side armor.
I also detonated an IED within 5 meters of a smoking APC on the same map and it did not kill it.
I also detonated a bomb car again within 5 meters of a HMWVV and it did not kill it.
With the mention of 2 RPG’s to kill a HMWVV and my own observation, my own personal opinion would be that it’s not quite right, I would think an RPG should kill a HMWVV or a supply truck in one hit, Rear Armor APC, 2 hits. Tank Shell heat 1 kill on light vehicules , Sabot rounds kill anAPC in 1, 2 or more on other Tanks (2 for rear armor)…

This smells like a suggestion thread. A good suggestion.

Re: Vehicle Armor Strength & Round lethality
the RPG should not kill a hummer in one hit these are the armored up hummers and IRL they are made to take hits and keep moving the Rpgs are everywhere you get landmines you get ieds you cant truly be trying to get the RPG to be 30% stronger with out losing some type of fire power.
Twisted Helix: Yep you were the one tester that was of ultimate value.
