I highly doubt that any sort of assault chopper will ever be in Op. Archer, ever. * I would have to reaffirm with my GPO guy before I said never.

Re: Karbala, and Archer. Air asset sugg.
And again, you guys want to have an attack chopper on Archer. Think for a second, it's alway awesome if you're Blufor, but jesus christ it's so effing annoying to get killed near your main by a chopper that had the awesome idea of blowing up EVERYTHING around, cars, buildings, CACHES. It will suck, a lot, for insurgents/talibans.
Another big problem, is that IRL, I highly doubt choppers will just roam around and blow EVERYTHING that is moving (cars, buildings, etc...). Ingame, you can't control and stop players from doing such a thing, wich means it will NOT represent how it is IRL.
Yes, I want the uber l33t chopper that will glorify the awesumz bluforz. The only problem is it won't be fun at all for the others (that already teamswitch a lot even without it..) and it will not represent a realistic use of billion $ assets and munitions.
But I'm sure somebody will say no, I want my uberl33tzchoppahlollol!!!11!111!111!One!1!!1eleven!!!11

Plus hideouts are next to useless with attack choppers around, even more so on open maps, and they can't be defended by AA like FBs can.

Ya but all the hills in Operation archer and bland and provide no cover. If anything they should put an Apache on Korengal.jbgeezer wrote:IRL, its the attack choppers that keep our troops in afghanistan alive mostly. Taliban hide in high mountains, they see you, you dont see them.

You're half right. If you ever experienced a mortar strike from the US side that blows up 2 of your caches right at the same time, imagine that multiplied by every times an apache can reload to Camp murphy before being shot down by a lucky insurgent.nick20404 wrote:Ya but all the hills in Operation archer and bland and provide no cover. The only caches surviving will be inside of caves.
And all the insurgents that will have to operate in the north east side of the map will get raped instantly, as there is no cover at all in those hills.

I do that all the time. Sometimes I visit the the Americans with a bottle of Coke in hand to share. They always freak out when they see it and shoot at megazzthompson wrote:IRL ins see a chopper and GTFO, leave, go home, put weapons down, fight another day... all of which are not possible in game.

Don't forget all the caches that are inside buildings on archer and inside the bunkers etc not all the caches are outside probably just as many outside as on karbala or any other ins map.Tannhauser wrote:You're half right. Re: Karbala, and Archer. Air asset sugg.
Ideas:
Attack heli on a map, 15 min respawn.
1 SA7, 20 min respawn.
Plenty of .50s and possibly a ZSU.
Loadout of 300x 30mm rounds, 2x hellfires, 24 rockets.
Reload time of the heli = 3-5 mins (Less ammo + higher reload time = watch what you fire at).
Remove civilian or change, however;
Give every insurgent a weapon (empty hands for example) with which they cannot be shot, however animation for taking out another weapon, taking that one is very very long, or a similar limitation to enable insurgents to hide weapons and walk away exploiting engagement rules. Even better the complete loss of the weapon that they need to find and replace.

Re: Karbala, and Archer. Air asset sugg.
It would just be shot down by a sa-7 before take off anyways.
Every map with a heli of any type has 3 + sa-7 for the ins team.
I would like to see the SA-7 removed and the Helis never respawn ban people that crash em.

Re: Karbala, and Archer. Air asset sugg.
Unless they add a civ to the taliban an attack chopper will just cover the ground in rockets and gun fire.
Remove the SA7s? ROFL then what are they supposed to do about a chopper flying at 500m? RPGs and 50cals won't take it down unless the pilot is a complete idiot. RJ Travis, Do you think about how your suggestions will effect game play over all? or just think about what would help you the most? I'm guessing you like to fly?

I'm with the pot head here. A chopper would be overkill. A map like Korengal maybe, but not something as open as the new awesome Archer.

Yes but the deflagration from hellfires goes trough buildings nonetheless. You only need the cache to be under the roof, near a window, an exterior wall, the door ... It'll blow up because explosions radius in BF2 tends to not care about static obstacles too much and will often hurt what is beyond a wall if it's close and depending on the power of the explosion.nick20404 wrote:Don't forget all the caches that are inside buildings on archer and inside the bunkers etc not all the caches are outside probably just as many outside as on karbala or any other ins map.
Karbala has the advantage of being much bigger, and having many SA-7s. The city is also much more complex than al-basrah and villages in archer/korengal whereas cache locations can be very obvious.
