I think this would be the best solution. And there is also the mini-map so you can see if there are teammates in the direction you see enemys. Maybe people should be more carefull about shooting at a target?'[R-PUB wrote:Cerberus']If you guys are so worried about teamkillings because of a lack of nametags, you could just have a nametag appear when you look directly at a teammate(like in America's Army).

'[R-DEV wrote:Ghostrider']There're a couple of points here:
1. We cannot sacrifice those in the community that do NOT have mics, etc.. I happen to know some in this situation
2. Among the PR objectives, fun, is still one of them. I also happen to be daltonic, in which case I can NOT tell appart uniforms at some distance (because the color is basically the same for me.). If you remove the tags, then I, among others, will also have a bad PR experience.
3. Regarding you taking the whole squad out. That would've got you kicked. The only reason why you stayed in the server was because the tags showed and you didnt kill them. If you had you would've been kicked...and the BF2 loading times suck already on high-end systems...imagine having to re-load for every Accidental teamkill. That blows
1. I know how it feels not to have a mic...I didn't until a week or two ago. Still they can get on TS just to listen.
2. In real life...how do Tks happen? Mistakes...I camn't say anything about rcognizing uniforms because I personally can't eaither...from distance, as in sniper rifles.
3.I know it would have gotten me kciked if I had done it and that the only reason for me not doing it was cause I saw the tags, but still I'f I can't take the time to check the minimap, well its my fault.

I am playing Red Orchestra Ostfront 41-45 for a couple of days now and you can only see nametags when you are really close at a teammate and when you aim at them. There isn't even a map with teammates on it in this game but it doens't give much problems. It improves the game experience in my opinion.

i am quite fond of the_keen_edge idea for the tag appearing for teammates after a period of time being centered on screen.
removing them completely doesn't seems to be a viable option at the moment, plus for some people playing with border line hardware PC it is quite challenging discerning one person from another at medium distance because of the lower resolution they play at, it doesn't seems to be fair to me to have them put at a disadvantage from ppl with better hardware in this manner.
and just a suggestion, can we add in an automatic verbal message as a warning when someone is shooting a friendly? Put a delay before it is triggered and what not if the dev wish but that would help a bit.
