I know that the Combined arms mod isn't actually in 0.9, but some of the ideas in it are seriously useful(especially that 2k draw distance-why wasn't that in there before?)

Maybe not in 0.9, but sometime in the future of mainstream PR some of these ideas might be able to be put to work.

Seems to me like a lot of people are missing the point that PR still needs some gameplay. If it was going to be a 1:1 realism game without gameplay it would not be fun anymore. Go play ARMA or Flashpoint 2 if you want better realism IMO.
I dont know I want that tank lock system in-game. Sure its realistic but wouldnt make tanking any fun. Would come down to a who spots who first with little or no room for any manouvring during combat because the tanks lock each other.
Just like how I found WW2 plane combat games more fun than the F-22 raptor one I had. In the raptor one I could just lock my missiles from miles away and made a few kills. In the WW2 It was dog-fighting like crazy!

This is not a super aimbot that will take away all skills when it comes to armored warfare.
Here's what you need in order to be a succesful armored unit:
1. Situational awareness
2. Good communication
3. Knowledge of how to use the terrain to your advantage
4. And of course - the right tactics
You will hardly be succesful in a tank with just good aim. That applies to all other elements in PR aswell. So a TFC will hardly suck out all the fun with armored combat, it will just put more emphasis on the above, which is what PR is all about.

All Ican say is the second part seems like a good idea, I mean it would be like the lock on gun stabilising of the FCS, but the first thing, not sure about the AG radar would be difficult without a joystick

Which is why it isn´t in PR at the moment.
Also, if it was 1:1 realism, for me it would be a whole lot more fun, the gameplay is still there, its just influenced by the realism, I can´t see how gameplay just disappears.

Actually having played with it it is alot more fun, but each to their own, it just feels much more realistic, your going to want backup and extra eyes around you, and you fear getting seen much more. You can also fire on the move.

Well, before CAS tweaked the controls to make it more joystick reliant, it worked very nicely with just the mouse. All you need to do is fly normally by mouse, and when selecting the weapon, you use the control key to look around.
That, too, would have to be included, but it's not that hard code two control settings

What's Combined Arms, btw?
It would be sweet if that was implemented into PR. Right now jets are useless for CAS vs armor unless you have someone lasing targets. IE LG missiles/bombs. Sure, the warthog is fun to spin up, but AA can spot you a lot easier with a big funnel of tracers spawning from the sky

Not the mention how loud it is.

They do have an Epic win of Tunguska in there with Radar, though. So Jets won't be so overpowered as everyone fears
Otherwise, don't fear about the radar being too easy of a shot, either. Dead vehicles (dunno if it's for either side, though) will also show up on radar, so unless you know what you're looking for, from either an enemy position report or from a visual confirmation or w/e, you could just be firing at a tank that's been killed since the beginning of the game.

...*sigh*... is Battlestar Galactica really over?
I know! I'm not sure I'll be able to handle this now.
You gotta give them props for the finale where there in NY though. That was deep.
Really.
Really.
Deep.

I'm just wondering, how does the 2k view distance impact performance? I'm playing on a low-endish system and I'm wondering if it'd be able to handle that.

The maps they have with those view distances are relatively light on statics so it won't result in poor performance.
