I have no problems with the current system's playability. If you want to shoot someone who's in the fog, move forwards. It's simple. I bought BF2 knowing my specs were equal to or above the minimums and I'll be real disappointed if the PR mini mod requires more power than I currently have. At present on low settings I still manage to get video lag when moving around in heavily built up areas (undergrowth on Steal Thunder for example) and the draw distance being tweaked just a slight bit would probably ruin my game, not to mention we'll have even more camping snipers, and with 0.3 supposedly upgrading the M24 it's going to be worse than ever.

If you have downloaded a mod, and about to play on it, then as soon as you join your first server on it, you lag instalnly, and you need to turn your graphics down, is it much of a turn on to play the mod? I think not...

Well longer view distances would be nice. But city maps have a **** load of objects.. that = lag. On the other hand, I'd like to see a map with a whole lot of "fog." Perhaps set in a sandstorm, so you could hardly see across the street. That might make for some intense fighting.

My opinion is to inscrease DD by at least a small amount, no point in having snipers in this 'reality' if you cant see very good. Doesnt have to be great, but the DD seems alot less then some vBF levels but i may be wrong

. Also as with most things, computers are getting cheaper, give it a year and you will be able to get a system that can run this game at high settings for a very economical price. So you could increase this incrementally as systems get more common. BF2 has been out for over a year, and yes it was very demanding when it came out, but now its very low in terms of other games out.

The 2GB of ram required to make BF2 stutter-free at higher settings is the only breaking point. This game isnt bottlenecked very much by the video card. Look at the new 7600's they are very cheap for the performance you can get.

I'm not going to get a new computer just so I can snipe better...

I'm happy with the draw distance, like I said it breaks down larger 64 man battles into small, shorter distance fights. If the newly improved M24 was let loose with a full level draw distance, a lot of people would complain. The M24 and L96 both have ranges well over half a kilmetre, so a sniper camping on the hill on Karkand at USMC spawn would be able to protect the market. I don't think that's so fair. Not to mention the amount of guys with supply kits doing some supressive area shooting on that area too...
