Ya but take into account that bullets are moving at incredible speeds and just the force of the bullet entering your body completely destroys surrounding tissues and organs and causes massive damage. Along with some bullets tumbling and shattering inside the body.

in rambo he gets stabbed and lives so u need to fix this quick smart, so we can have more Sly fans in PR. Also whilst running with the LMG it shud hiit every target in 1000m. Seriously id love to see
1.knife is critical wound like all bullets
2.knfie to extremities is not instant takedown

Exactly, that being said however maybe since headshots dont put u down permanently anymore maybe knifes should do the same
But it should definitely only take one hit to put people down, otherwise it removes a completely valid area of gameplay in which being patient, silent and fast can yield you a whole squads worth of kills, which is hard enough given bf2 'excellent' hitboxes

Have you evem take the information of Neck?
a sigle knife on it will make you lose you breath.
has well not speak, it is a question of time to you get dead.
and there is nothing a medic can do to help you.

but of course making a knife kill you in one hit on leg is unrealistc.
To be real realistic it must be able to make a second ability to Imobilise the enemy.
and after Kill he whicht a knife.

Well i've heard of causing of someone being stabbed like over 10 times and surviving such as this on former gang member who was stabbed over 30 times and just barely walked out of the prison yard, but he lived and was still able to move for some time. Until he passed out (for how long after being stabbed).

GUYS YOU ARE ALL MISSINFORMED

1st, a COMBAT KNIFE WILL KILL YOU ALLWAYS due to its design, most combat knifes have irregular parts, that create air bubbles in the blood, that stops your heart. so a full stab WILL ALLWAYS NO MATTER WHAT kill you, not instantly but will kill you in matter of minutes having or not medical attention.

Image
some have a hole in the blade, wich is for the same porpouse.

2cond. a person that is stabbes from behind, as the 90% of the knife kills in game, will finish in a throat cut, wich of you dont have a hospital (a civilian one, and a REALLY good one. forget the military crappy hosptals) WILL kill you and prefent you from defence. an ARM injury will prevent you from defend yourselve, a backbone cut WILL put you out of action in miliseconds.
A stab on the chest WILL put you out of action, no matter the direction, a hit in the breathing organs will result in a terrible pain and an asfixia that will put the soldier out of combat in seconds.

3rd A BULLETPROOF VEST IS NOT A BLADEPROOF VEST, in prision, guards dont use bulletproof vests because they dont stop STABS, that are the most frecuent attacks, instead they use a special vest

stab proof

bullet proof

nowadays there is a bulletproof AND knifeproof best, but its not in service as far as I know.

4rd, all civilian incidents cant compare with the battlefield, because of the different knife, and different medical attention, medical supplyes and time for treatment

sorry for my bad english, not my first lenguage.

OK, i didn't know about that air bubble those combat knives can cause. they can kill but don't always get stuck in the heart but even that can't kill or causes problems.

Okay, about the armor, I thought that armour at military level would also offer stap protection, though not the normal police body armor. I don't know which one the militaries around the world use and would deploy in great numbers. So you may be right on this one.

Ya the amount of miss information in this thread is grand at best, he is talking purely about police issue bullet proof vests AKA soft vests which obviously won't stop knives because they are designed to "catch" high speed small projectiles not knives or any other objects being forced in by hand.

Military vests usaully have metal/ceramic plates guarding vital organs which would easily stop a knife.

Also the information about "bubbling" is false I have seen plenty of m9-bayonet training videos to know that no one trains to stab someone once and walk away.

M9 bayonet - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

You can read up on the standard army bayonet here and get some more information.

Even if the bubbling effect was true, it wouldn't kick in fast enough. You stab someone once in the chest they can still shoot your and stab you back. Even when you cut somebody's throat and arteries it is still a good idea to place a follow up stab to the heart. And in said scenario you still want to maintain control of their body until they are dead. You don't stab somebody then run away.

Furthermore, in game you can instantly kill somebody anywhere. ANYWHERE! I stab your foot and you instantly die. I've killed plenty of people when their foot clipped through the wall with my knife. I've stabbed people in the arms and had them die. That is completely unrealistic. Even abdominal wounds, while painful, won't kill you. You can survive for hours and sometimes days before dying. Consider the ritual of seppuku where they had to cut, not stab but cut, across their abdomen multiple times in order for them to bleed out fast enough to actually die from it in a short period of time (measured in minutes).

Woah. This thread is absolutely ridiculous.

You can survive stab wounds quite happily (Well... not happily, but you get me).

People get stabbed in London all the time, they survive. Read the news, people survive MULTIPLE CHEST WOUNDS.

Admittedly these are not likely bayonet stabs, but you would not 'instantly die' from a stab to the lungs.

And What on earth are you talking about? Bubbles in your blood? Sorry mate, thats called bollocks.

Image

See that? The only reason for the patterns on it are:
1. The grove down the side is to allow blood to leak out, so it is easier to pull out.
2. To turn the thing into wire cutters/bottle opener (for real)
3. The shape of the sharp end allows it to stuck between ribs with relative ease.

Even with one of those bad boys, you'll probably need a good few stabs to the chest to put you out of action.

I'm all for knife hits only making you critically wounded though.
Ahahaha, knife fight in the TOW pit FTW :D .

But, I wouldn't mind making knife wounds not instantly kill you, but at least take you down to critical (B&W).

And most of these parts that would kill you quickly are covered by armor and a knife surely will not pass threw a ceramic plate, but maybe a traditional bullet proof vest.
From this day forth i shall invent the "Knife Launcher" :D

You guys are forgetting one important issue when talking about knife use on the modern battlefield. Where a bayonnet fixed to a rifle is used offenively, a knife carried by a soldier is more than likely nothing more than just a tool. I.E its used to clear vegetation, cut cord, opening cans or crates ect...

The knife as a combat weapon has seen very limited use since WWII. So for a reality mod, having people legging it across streets and diving from buildings to get those glorious knife kills its absolutely rediculous.

I suggest a rethink of the knife, maybe intergrate it with the building system somehow, I don't know, it's just a last quick thought. Any ideas?
