No, thats the complete opposite of what I am trying to say. The whole team needs to work together, not just the two squads next to each other. With mumble, no one communicates between the team, only with the guys next them.


Let me put it another way: Before mumble "damn, how do I tell this squad there is an APC approaching" *types in chat* *whole team finds out* After mumble "cool, I can just proximity tell him" *those two squads find out, but the rest of the team has no idea*

if its relevant only to the local situation they'll use local talk

if its relevant between squads, they will use SL radio to communicate (in a perfect world)

If its relevant between squads and for some reason som1 isn't on or using SL radio, then teamchat will be used

Mumble only enhances teamworking potential, I never find intersquad coms engrossing since its only used for intersquad coms, Its only needed when you need a blue to do something or to do something for a blue.

People only find mumble engrossing when its novelty hasn't worn off.

I am not saying mumble is bad, its awesome, but it doesn´t help teamwork much, only squads close to each other.

Mumble has the same effect on teamwork as does teamspeak, voip and chat. It all comes down to who is using it and how it is used.

Tournament only used teamspeak for example, and there was more *team* teamwork going on there than there seem to be in most full mumble games.

oh and Alex...squad leaders on Mumble can talk to each other even if they are on the other side of the map (its called *drumroll* Squad Leader Radio)

But AFAIK, it's still proximity. So the bad guise can still here you. So keep it down, you have to be vary vary kwaiet while you huntin wabb uhgh Insurgents.

no its not proximity only, as SL's in their own channel use FORCE CENTER key binding to relay info.

and a good SL types up important info aswell as use MUMBLE, theres no excuse not to even say to a member in your squad to type up to the team ''NME APC in B7kp4'' for example, if you are to busy. Even if your not an SL that should not mean your not able to relay nme locations and info; in PR its just good manners to talk.

Giving members of your squad small tasks keeps them involved and even simple things helps them to feel like their doing something for the team.

No it doesn't since you can talk to the people near you it changes the squad tactics signficantly, since the only differences between you and a blue will be spawnpoint and probably kit.

Why do you believe this? If people aren't telling the team where things are, like tanks etc its because they are being dumb. Why would mumble stop them typing in teamchat if they have relevant information and no coms?

Oh, and to reply to the OP... I don't know. I do get slightly irked when my squad run off without me. I dun' like running everywhere - I'll get sweaty and then I'll look awful, an' then I'll get shot because the enemy won't like how I look.

My point is, mumble doesn´t magically increase teamwork. Its the same as teamspeak, voip and chat just with a cool positional feature. The tourney games I played in had 150% more teamwork without mumble, but thats obvious why..

Likewise I have had pub games which had much more teamwork than an organised mumble night...

I love mumble, i think its great but it certainly doesn´t solve anything thats down to the people who play.
