I don't know if you din't notice, but the pictures in the static fields are on Qwai.Silly_Savage wrote:1. Up the view distance.
2. Add in the static overgrowth fields.
3. Reinstate previous asset layout.
4. ???
5. Perfection.

I really do agree, however the TOW is at its most effective when mobile and unpredicable. The current WZ551 vs Stryker... ya alot of times can suck, but thats only if your TOW humvee is driving around by itself instead of protecting the APCs...
This is why the Bradley would be such a great replacement, it has the AT weapons, but its speed and transport capability means it not only has to stay with teh strykers, it'll complement their transport abilities.

I owe you 1 beer.[R-DEV]fuzzhead wrote:We will probably be changing the vehicle layout again on Qwai River, since its overhaul it will now have an increased view distance, better fields and some better protection against mainbase rape.
The final layout has not been decided yet.
Im prety against tanks, as the map IS still small and view distance isnt ideal, but I guess we can make a layer with the tanks on it to see how it goes.
I dont think the littlebirds will be returning though.
Obviously I'm biased but I find the current layout really enjoyable... Qwai is great for infantry, and when you got alot of boots on the ground instead of waiting around for assets / going off on their own, you get a great potential for multiple squad vs multiple squad, which is great fun and doesnt happen too often on other maps.

Anyways, keep suggestions here and we will keep them in mind when doing the layers for v0.9.
There will be an AAS 16,32,64 layer and CNC 16, 64

I think you guys should be pleased with the massive overhaul of the map...
it has really changed alot...I took a good week of time to retrofit most of the CPs..

HellDuke wrote:When the PLA get their APC with the cannon and US get the Stryker... That's absolute ****... If that's the case exchange the Stryker with the LAV-25... Right now you get into a stryker and the most often thing you hear or say as a driver: "Woops another vechicle, time to get lost..."
Now you suggest adding tanks on top of that? What's gonna happen then? Connect: "Oh **** it's Qwai and I'm ammerican... Ok time to go..." Half server disconnects because they KNOW they are gonna lose. The way it's now is great in my opinion... The stryker is usseless unless it's just infantry and the TOW can be used against PLA APC
not really bradlys are stronger than tanks all you need is to find the tank and shoot a TOW at it and the Tank is worse because the bradly has 95% chance of hitting him where as he has about 80% chance if has time to adjust if he just sees him an swings turret wildly then down to 40% chance so bradly wins basicly all the time maybe add in a LAV somewhere would make it even

Doesn't the US only have one map that features the M1A1 Tanks? That one map being Kashan. Correct me if Im wrong. I think another map that features a US MBT would be great for gameplay.

You know, if they get a light anti tank vehicle for the PLA, I'd be cool with seeing the PLA "disadvantaged" against US Armor. My original layout suggestion was simply to take into account that we don't have one yet. Overall, it's too small for a real tank map.
As for air assets...I kinda miss that little Wasp...

The map is not to small for tanks. It is probable that if the US and PLA is ever in a conflict in China tanks will be used. Just because the country isnt mainly made of huge open areas like a desert, it does not mean tanks wont be used. In my country we got 90% forest and we use tanks, and Qwai is much more open than that. Qwai is similar to a typical rural countryside in western Europe and USA, with its fields and rolling hills, if you think about it. Its not like it is Normandy with hedges blocking every field.

Re: Qwai River - GPO edit suggestions for v0.9
I think the probs with Qwai is, that perhaps it to focus on vehicles where as it should be focused on the infantry, this map is a far better infantry map then a vehicle map and they tend to destroy that and become too dominate.
What need's to happen is just a major cut back on the vehicles in this map, for one get rid of the PLA apc's the one with the canon's, you can't expect striker's to be able to complete with some thing like that, using TOW humve’s don’t work ether, they work in open terrain like zalhar wet land but they don‘t work very well in close range which is what we always seem to get in Qwai.
What a better layout would be PLA APC's MG's square’s off against the striker's that a far better lay out, that way the vehicles will be able to contribute to the team yet not become overly dominate.

I was just about to write what he said^^
mg apc's vs strykers would bring a uniqe gameplay where the apc´s can't kill eachother and are therefor forced to stick with the infantry. I think its worth testing for a layer.

You know there is a infantry layer.... At least I am pretty sure there is.
Tbh I think vehicles bring alot to gameplay, especially in a game that is focused on combine arms, not just infantry.

Re: Qwai River - GPO edit suggestions for v0.9
afaik theres no infantry layer with mg apc's vs strykers and it sounds interesting to me.
When I first read about the new WZ551A I thought they made it just for this reason.
