I dunno about giving SL the UGL as this would mean that he'd lose a couple of tools from his kit, and alot of peeps would just get the officer for the m203 imo.

Keep it a requestable kit, but imo it does need more versitility. I've seent he ironsights version etc which is awesome, but what would be great is if it got a couple of regular grenades/smoke grenades as well.

I've thought of this as well, but am not able to use suggestion forum yet.

Giving it to SL's i wouldnt be able to comment on properly as those are my two favorite kits, SL and Grenadier. But one thing i can think of as a result of it would be a little bit less teamwork, as spotting w/ SL markings improves grenadier's accuaracy, you could spot for yourself, which is kind of what i want to do in .9 since i wont need SL kit for RP's anymore.

Having it as a spawnable kit w/ option for ironsights would be awesome, it would make it so i could use nades for long range and irons for close range. not sure how this would affect balance if at all.

How bout adding nades for the specialist?

can anyone tell i like grenades?

i was thinking of making it so you could either have a SAW or a GL in your squad at spawn, but not both, because in my opinion they are both suppressive weapons. but this i dont think is possible because the limit of kits on the spawn screen

I agree since it does make sense. All our spawnable kits are considered "core" infantry kits by almost any doctrine irl.

We could do that. But we won't since it detracts from realism. irl, an 8 man section is going to have roughly 2 of each. Having one of each available to a 6 man BF2 squad just makes sense.

Can you be more specific on what those issues are so we can discuss them and possibly come up with a solution. I would assume right from the get go you are referring to the revive and get all your ammo back?

Either make it a spawn or remove the AR from the spawn kits, doesn't make sense to have the SAWs spawn in and the grenadiers an option. Saws usually deliver way more accurate damage these days.

I agree with this. When you think about it the AR and the Grenadier really are comparable kits as they both have a specific role in fire-team level tactics and they are about equally as common.

want it in your squad? earn it as a team with a supply route or APC

spawnable Grenadier could give PR a COD4 syndrome

in COD4 people with m203s cannot reload them, so they die, immediately use their m203 and then don't particularly care if they die again because when they spawn they'll get their m203 ammo back.

Re AR, making the ironsight version rather than scope version spawnable would be best imo, decreasing effective combat distance unless you have a supply route. Removing AR from the spawn screen would not be a huge loss to me, as I always ensure I have a supply route :)

maybe I should show a picture of dudes with AT4s? make them spawnable too.

Want stuff in your squad, get a supply route.

But you'd only be able to have 1 per squad assuming you have the required amount of players in the squad, correct?

plus, if you lost the kit, your squad would have to wait 5 minutes to get it back, right?

I think giving them a minimum distance for detonation completely wiped any chance they would inspire COD4 syndrome.

The way I see this, the UGL in game is depicted very accurately when compared to its Real Life counter part. If 1 in 4-5 front-line soldiers has them IRL (see OP) then 1 in 4-5 normal squad members (ideally 1 per squad) should be able to have them in PR. There is a reason the weapon is so common in the military (cheap, lightweight and effective)

I especially think this should happen now that rally's are gone. Its not like putting this in will cut significantly into the importance of logistics. At the moment I think its annoying that as a squad leader, I can't have a dedicated grenadier, and as a squad member, I can't use it consistently through the round if I'm in a functional squad.

i say throw it on the officer kit. it would keep the numbers low and hopefully in the hands of the more mature. it is usually a senior person in the squad that carries it in real life.


The M203 Grenade Launcher
Not every Marine in the rifle company will carry this weapon. In the infantry units, only the Team Leaders in each squad carries this system. Each Marine is assigned a specific weapon. Initially the Marine carries the M16. The average Marine carries the M16 for a majority of his career. As they gain in seniority and experience (and a position is available to move into), the Marine would then move to a M249 SAW. Finally, upon reaching the position of Team Leader, they would be assigned an M203.

the M203 in PR is totally different than the COD4 one, you wont have the spam if you give it to the SL or make it like the medic kit. even cutting down the ammo and make them need to use the riflemans ammo bag to reload could help.
side note, every marine gets training with the M203, even the non grunts.
