Headshots have a 100% incapacitation rate -- that player is temporarily removed from battle.
It will be at least 30 seconds before he either respawns or is resusitated. If his kit is HAT\AA\Sniper\Etc. you would either have to decimate his squad OR overwatch the position for 15 seconds (Correct that count if I'm wrong.) to deny access to the kit. This is the case with or without instant-death headshots.

I mean really incapacitated. Like in real life. Not like you-can-be-capacited-again-with-a-magic-pen.

But somebody finally gave a nice argument. This kit overwatching thing makes sense. Thanks. :D

I think I have to support lockpicker on one issue. If you are a marksman or a sniper (I don't play these classes anymore. Due to the lack of commanders recon is absolutely unnecessary and also the Marksman is always outgunned by a good automatic rifleman.) you actually NEED the deadly headshot to make sure the target can't simply be revived and then spot you out. Of course the headshot has led to a massive wave of headshot-only playing people, but these two classes need it.

Snipers are (as I said) irrelevant for the game since they take only players away from the team and since there aren't commanders on most of the servers (Yes I know you want to say: Play on other servers! There are commanders! Sorry but usually they seem to magically disappear as soon as I click "Join Server") they can't do coordinated Recon, so their only use is to make some children, who haven't noticed this yet, happy.

And the marksman is right now a class which noone wants to play since the AR is way more power- and usefull for the squad.

On the other hand I support the DEVs decision. I think the deadly headshot is something that was a good idea but was misunderstood by many players. As Fuzzhead said it drew players away from coordinated firesupport to suppress the enemy but made them wait for their sure headshot. And on this point I can understand the DEVs decision to remove it, but I think the Marksman and Sniper should get it back or be replaced by more usefull classes since they are useless right now (Can't be sure about the marksman since it will be changed in .9).

So far: Let's see which changes will be made in .9 and critize the classes then :D

Made me Lol. Most pubbies DO NOT use suppressive fire. If they see someone they'll fire, if they know they are behind cover they'll wait until the enemy pops their head up, then fire.

Suppressive fire would be firing a round a second into that cover to keep their heads down (or suppress them if you will).

Your not supposed to be firing to kill. You fire to "stop the target".
Firign for the head may be the 'cleanest kill' but thats not what the military is trained for. We are trained for shoot center mass, the biggest part of the body therefor increasing your chances of hitting the target. You hit the person, hes down and out of mind, you can then focus on the next target after assessing the shot. Stop thinking like a player and try getting into the mind of trained professionals.

btw headshots do not always killed. I personally know someone in my last command who on post was shot in the face by a M9 at point blank range on post doing rover duty. His driver was being negligent and pulled his pistol out of the holster, the blackhawk holsters we use are tight so pulling ti out flipped the safety and he pulled the trigger. Round tore through the cheek and out just behind his eye on the other side.

Personally as a marksman/sniper, I want a head shot to be dead dead
I don't want him coming back revived trying to scope me out! I want him silenced

I dislike removing death through headshot too, both because of realism reasons and because of gameplay reasons.
But the mod is for free, overall I like it, so I just have to deal with it if the people who make the mod do not want headshots to kill and do not want to further ponder the issue in the suggestions forum, because it has already been done before.

Somebody mentioned surpressing fire. Surpressing fire is only good if you take advantage of it, like leapfrogging back to retreat or forward or to flank or have somebody move up, else you will just eventually run out of ammo, which means you should play the mod on a server with many regulars and become a regular yourself which you should do with any game that requires tactics and teamwork, be it a ballgame or videogame.

I was for it being a auto kill, but I get what the devs are saying. It doesn't matter were they were hit because in real life, if you get shot in the head or shot in the leg chances are for both you wouldn't get up right away. Yes a head-shot increases the chances of death, and they reward you in the game by making him automatically go down instead of two shots. But if you can survive a body shot that should take you out then why not a headshot?

Great idea guis, since only some militaries are trained to shoot for the body, we keep it so that their oponents can survive headshots to encourage body shots. But for every other army, we'll give them the ability to completely incapacitate the enemy with a bullet to the face.

Good idea amirite?
