I to am having weird lag issues lately. Unfortunately it coinsides with me installing my 8800GTS, which is also having some graphical issues that I hope are driver related.
How many people here are running 8800 series cards currently and what driver are you using? I'm curious to see if there is some dirver issues going on with these cards?

Hmmmm, I have done some more investigating with this and I may have found something.
Do any of you people use RivaTuner? There are issues with the new PB updated scanning memory access and certain programs cause issues with the game your playing if PB finds them accessing the memory. Other programs like ATI tool apparently can cause the same thing, I'm guessing some of the extra Nvidia driver tools and extras could be doing this as well? It isn't going to generate a PB report as it isn't a cheat but it causes a variety of crashes and freezes, possibly other things as well. The newest version of RivaTuner 2.03 is available and has a work around for this, it isn't perfect as thew new work around increases cpu usage a bit. Download from guru3d.com.
Perhaps shuting down all your extra little programs will be a way to test. I know that with my 8800GTS 640mb I should be having better performance then I'm getting, something smells fishy here and I plan to get to the bottom of it [insert appropriate omnious departure music]

Ok I did some tweaking last night. Downloaded the pbsetup.exe to update my punkbuster to the most current for BF2 (not sure if I was current to begin with). Then I uninstalled RivaTuner 2.02 (leaving my profiles etc.) and installed RivaTuner 2.03. I also disabled the services called nTune and Nvidia display driver service from running automaticaly.
I only tested it out for an hour but I had no more lag, and did not get the weird freezes and graphical problems I was having.
I do know that the new PB was having issues with Riva before but I don't know if PB was having issue with nTune but I suspsect it might.
This may help those that have RivaTuner running for those that don't try dissabling the nTune and other Nvidia programs to see if it helps.

I'll pin it on PB, cause mine has always run fine. Then, not so long ago, it started stuttering. It wasn't serverside lag either. Coincided with the new PB update. Coincidence? I think not.

I like "your get it done attitude" Lucid

. I would try using the pb_sleep 500 command in the in game consule to see if that helps.

Hey guys I´m back, well a week is a long time for a me
Longbow have you found anythink about this lag proplem?, mine got better after I disappled "AAA" both in PR and the graphic card its self so I´m sticking the proplem there, then the little that is left of my proplem could be the internet connection because sometime its a little jerky...

I did solve my lag but it was an issue with PB and Riva/video card utilities conflict causing problems. I would make sure that PB is up to date, try using the pb_sleep 500 command to see if it helps (input into the in game console every time you start the game). Past that I would monitor your fps as you play and notice if they are dropping or if your lag is internet based. I do know that some servers gave me lag and headaches as my graphic settings didn't seem to matter. If you're lagging but your fps are still good then I would try some different servers to see if it improves, otherwise it could be a slow connection. If your fps are dropping and causing lag then it would be best to tweak your in game settings some more.
