Guys, can we *please* have one thread for the discussion of how to improve small-arms in PR?
Currently there seem to be about four or five floating about, often discussing very similar things.

why would you need to bring barrel length into this? you need the bullets speed and mass then you can find everything else. the m14 should do more damage it shoots a 7.62 nato round that has 3332 ft-lbs of energy the g3 shoots the same round but only has 2242 ft-lbs of energy. now that is 48% more energy so it should do about 48% more damage. but like jonny said the g3 fires a big round so it should have alot of recoil and a some what large amount of damage. we dont need to balance the guns out we need to make them real and let the mappers balance them out, each gun can do things the other cant so play with it or dont play.

often discussing very similar things.
and discussed by similar people. Anyhow, this is not the thread for it. Continue the weapons discussion elsewhere, or via PM.

The one with the longer barrel will pick up a higher velocity, but up to a certain length I think.

Man you can't look at damage of round in pure energy hit, when a round hits someone it does serious damage to the body and doesn't "push" the person with that amount of energy.
Each bullet has different caliber and damage model because of the caliber..some smaller rounds can be much more effective at damaging then large rounds, 5.56 tends to fragment and inflict damage over greater area of body, 7.62 tends to just break through things when it impacts something and .50cal blow things to pieces.
Its like throwing a ball and then throwing a box at someone's head, its clear that both of them will do different type of damage at same speed.

Please, stop the discussion of how to make the values more realistic and return to "how to learn and utilise the weapons properly", which I believe was the original topic of interest.
I'm close to creating a new "Discussion of Jargon Numbers and Nonsensical Maths" thread and merging about ten threads into it, purely on the basis that four or five guys derail any topic to do with rifles into equations. I'm glad you guys have an interest in working on it, I'm glad you
are working on it, but please - keep your discussions of it as confined as possible. If we have to start merging I'll get really irritated

Gargh, I meant that discussion of the physical properties of the projectiles fired by rifles within the PR gameverse derails threads.
It's Jargon in the sense that it's a technical language, the meaning of which the vast majority of forum members have no or very limited understanding of.
Nonsensical in the sense that when people are trying to have a discussion about which rifle they feel is better for which uses, a discussion around how to make the rifles act in a more realistic manner is counterproductive to that aim.

I rather enjoy the math, it reduces the uneducated BS that flows so freely.
