Both! - View distance on 100% and geometry on high are the two most important settings.
View distance for the view :P and if your geometry is set on high objects/vehicles/enemies will appear sooner than having it on med or low.

Well, since view distance determines if you can spot that sniper or not I would have to say that, it affects gameplay more. While I play on high settings to not exploit graphics, low settings give you an advantage when playing as grass and shadows and everything makes the enemy stand out.

So it's been slightly under two months, and more than 78% of the responses said they prefer view distance over settings. Now, given, half of them have brand new 8800s, so they don't really count, but can we expect any kind of increase in view distances?

Does it matter if it's 8800 or 7600? View distance has almost nothing to do with GFX card, it's all about CPU.

I already said that before, don't you belive me?

I believe you, but could you explain why? Clearly your card is going to have to do some work if it rendering more.

Well, from the tests I've made, if you have at least 7600GT (like me) you should not have any problems with your GFX (unless you want 1280x1024+8xAA+16xAF or something stupid like that).

I'm no expert, but from what I understand, when you increase view distance, you also increase the number of draw calls per frame. And that causes a big impact on CPU load.

well from what Mosquill is saying i dont see why the view distance is low at all, cus most people have a fast cpu but a med-end videocard.

Well, there's the gameplay factor don't forget. Many maps are made with the view distance at a certain level; upping the view distance might skew a map's gameplay; insufficient cover on flags for example. Not saying that's why PR hasn't upped the view distance any further, I'm giving it as a reason why it has to be done carefully.

Certainly for maps like Jabal, Zatar, and Oman, there is no chance of increased view distance, as it would allow the defenders to see the USMCs spawn points and vehicles.

But I think anyone mapping for PR shouldn't be afraid to crank up the view distance, in fact they should try and keep it as high as possible.

right now the view distance on op.archer is great, most of the time it is the hills that block your view not the fog, but i would really like to see more maps have the fog start 1m before it ends to give it a crisper look.

and make rifles to can kill at 300+ meters
Serous

PS -
and shotguns to kill "very much" at medium ranges
and machine guns - none accuracy, but max damage and lot rate of fire

I think it depends on the map. The effect on fools road looks really good, but other maps could use a crisper fog.

I love the view distance on operation archer, more long distances maps plz!

I run all my settings on Low, and on PR, graphics dont matter, because the gameplay is so intense, you get drawn into it and totally forget about the graphics! But I still have my view settings on 100, otherwise people with more than me, would have a much greater advantage to kill me.
