Yea but all of that doesnt stop the dude from being 100% correct. the BF2 engine is very limited and irritating to say the least.

and i would think with all the modders and coders who play PR it wouldnt be a difficult task to make a new engine.

The trouble I see with PR is the insistence on the 6-man squad as the basic infantry unit even in maps where assets could support smaller squads. For example, a 4-man+apc squad would be much much more useful and fun to the infantry players in a map like kashan than a seperate apc squad, seperate tank squad, seperate helo squads. It's not that this type of formation doesn't work, but that it requires a very active commander to keep asset-infantry cooperation high.

Obviously in a map like EJOD 16 there's no need for this and you can run 6-man squads but i think that even players in teamplay-oriented servers like TG could stand to think a bit more strategically about running different/heterogenous squad types.

Im gettin so tired of this "assettwhore" bashing.
yes, apparently I am an assett whore. I get stomache ulcer seeing how helos and jets are being butchered.
I mean .75 is great, CQC is intense as never before, overall for infantry its imo a huge leap forward.
but for air, I dunno.. last suckerpunch weve had to take is the LB getting the heat signature back and AH6 spawntime set to 20min.
it just keeps getting worse, but we try to adapt and work out ways to stay up and effective.
but will it ever stop, is the end of the flagpole ever reached, when DEVs openly admit they despise these weapons?

Today I crashed my huey 2 times in row (gulf of oman), had to wait 30min overall to get play decently. Even it was embarassing and painful to wait, but still, I love PR. I know I wont better teamwork in a public server in any game.

Yesterday I just had one of those real "OMG!!!1 That was cool!!" moments. I was playing Zatar wetlands as usmc. Were pulling back from farm to defend airfield. Our huey landed and we got inside. But mec tank spotted us when the huey was just leaving. We had altitude about 50m when the pilot died. It was just so cool. The helo tilted little bit to right and started slowly go down. Even that the pilto was dead the huey landed safely and started to rotate on ground. I jumped off the helo because the tank was still shooting with mg. But I only managed to run 5m before the rear of the helo hit me :D

No other game than PR can me moments like I were playing singleplayer.

Remember, the mod is still WIP.

which in turn makes everyone in the area safer.

Attention DEVS, you have gone too far! Please turn back now.

I, for one, like the direction that this mod is going. I've had some really awesome adrenaline rush moments in this game that I have never seen replicated anywhere else.

Beerhunter = devils advocate.

This mod is still the best combined arms game. We the players have the power to make it fun, whenever we want. When you play it right and work together, it becomes a completely different game. Even 1 squad matched with a good CO can put some serious hurt on the other team.

50 cal can chop down a tree and even an ak bullet can go through concrete blocks so if anything there is too much cover in the game

Making a new engine would be a gigantic task, just modding another engine would require a whole new project I expect

The CryEngine i feel would probably suit PR really well with it's brilliant editor etc.

now if we get the source code to the bf2 engine, so much would be possible. just thinking about what would be possible makes you want to try to some how get the engine from ea.
