China ISN'T Desert. It's just a fact.
that picture is from wiki about china, if you want satellite,
here
nobody said its a whole desert with few oasis
if you dont believe there are deserts, google Gobi desert and Takla-Makan desert, Himalayas are also can be considered desert at some places

It's called the Gobi
So much for education
But more seriously, by forest I meant things like this:
Mind you, they do have tropical regions, so you're not wrong. China is a huge country, and what you see as the norm in the southern parts isn't what you'd see in the northern parts. The further north and west you go, the more mountains you see -- in fact, a map much like Koregal wouldn't be TOO far off the mark.

Your post didn't exist when I first started to reply, sorry. But yeah, it's the Gobi, also whatever пустыня Гоби translates into. I don't speak Russian :/

You sure?
Check google maps - since when was desert green?
Forest i'll grant you - though I kinda meant that with Jungle (forest to me isn't like the chinese forests)

Really.. there's something called google. Type in Chinese Desert, the second result is a large article about a rather large desert in China.
A comparable map to Muttrah would be cool for the Chinese, although requiring lots of statics.

Brummy we've been through this and I've realised I'm wrong... so that was a pretty useless start to a post.
Also it is around 80% Forest/Jungle - so it's got virtually no desert it.

Well this story could work - not really a desert but pretty sandy
Conflict between India and China (oh shoot is there even an Indian army in PR o.o?)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pjACK71QQ-w
And regarding the deserts
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d2EfKraPEM0
At 2 min, you can see a city in the back, so I guess a combination of desert and urban combat could work

And 1/3 of China is desert btw XD

China is 3,696,100 square miles (9,572,855 square kilometers)
20% of that is 739,220 square miles (1,914,571 square kilometers)
The size of the state of Texas is 268,820 square miles (696,241 square kilometers)
Now I'm no genius but with those numbers, China's desert is 3 times the size of Texas and that is according to your made up stat(no source) that 20% of China is desert.
To put that into perspective The UK is 93,788 square miles (242,910 square kilometers).
By your logic Texas 'virtually doesn't exist', the UK 'virtually doesn't exist'.

Knock it off. I said desert because it's deadpan snarking. DEADPAN. Not some kind of thing we discuss.
Seriously though, if X were to fight China, what would we be after? Like, why would we go out to the wilderness? Answering questions like this is the first step towards making a map.

HEY KNUCKLE HEADS KNOCK IT OFF. You can finger bang each other all day about what China is and is not. Point was that China is very diverse (yes it includes forest, cities, deserts, coastal areas) and the poster would like to see more diverse maps based in China other then the typical foggy forests. And hes has a legit suggestion. It been talked about with in the Dev's as well.
For future mappers a Chinese map can be based on anything in China, be that a forest, citie, deserts (yes deserts). As long as it looks authentic and you've done your homework I will be behind it.
Some of you are some of the whiniest internet bullies. So ether shut up or buck up and get to mapping/static making. Because beyond that your just words on a forum.

Beat you to it CRF
But yeah, my deadpan snarking doesn't translate well over the internets, which is bad because it's 20% of my personality according to Google Earth.
So ja, when the semester's out I guess I will give mapping a go. Actually considering a desert map, a big MEC vs GB one...or something like that.
