A couple of you guys know my oppinions from little rants while in game at quiet moments of a round... I'm dissapointed at how gameplay has changed in the most part for long range infantry warfare. When I couldn't hit anything, I'd organise support and rain lead down on an enemy position from anything available, suppressing them while a couple of my squad members moved closer or got some explosives on the case. No need to do that now, I can just nerf-headshot them from 360m in one shot.
Less fun for me. If I wanted that, I'd play any of the other FPSs on the market. Still playing though, trying to find realistic approaches to the new game play - excessive use of smoke, cover and avoidence on the most part.

Back in 0.8, not even suppressive fire worked, just because you couldnt get enough lead down range accurately enough to cause the suppression effect.
Additionally, nobody ever payed too much attention to covering their movement, because the enemy wouldnt hit you anyway if you just run fast enough.

Maybe for you, but this is how my squad would operate, and we rarely had any trouble suppressing people.

Sure, you might be able to suppress if you've got the whole squad lined up on the line, but that sacrifices covering your flanks, and to be honest, I lost count of the number of times I was able to sprint across open ground while bullets whizzed all around me and made it to cover without a scratch back in .8. The new deviation system makes weapons dangerous again, is it in favor of longer range weapons. Yes, but then again, that was the point of the gun. If you can't use screening tactics to get in closer, then it's your own fault.

TBH this release have put me of PR have plyaed .85 for a little under a week now and my conclusion is that ofc i like all the new stuff that they put in it, but the feel/gameplay is just to "gamey" for me know.

I really liked the old deviation not so much for its insane randomness in close quarter combat but the firefights you had over long distances could last a very long time, can't any more and that takes out alot of the pleasure of PR for me

Firefights between conventional armies shouldn't last very long, assuming both armies have scopes.

Firefights against insurgents might last a bit longer for the Coalition, but Insurgents in PR have low enough deviation on their weapons to score headshots if they know what they're doing.

Either way, I don't think PR is meant to support these super-long firefights. Instead, it's moving toward mechanized warfare and CQB, the two things this game can do better than any other.

0.8 made PR players like action stars, that is running through the hot spots, bullets taking in the ground, flying by.

Good way of putting it, I see it as 0.8 = Hollywood film, 0.85 = More or less real life.

Exactly, you still need to work as a team if you want to clear buildings properly, IE, one guy with a shotgun breaching, the rest covering his back, and with a good medic you'll minimize casualties (though I'm not exactly thrilled with people being headshotted being revived). There are still going to be long range engagements, only more now though. I remember always telling my squad not to fire a single shot until we are within 50 meters, because it would end up alarming them of our presence, but would very rarely ever kill any of them.

Deviation now encourages the use of good cover, and making sure that people work as a team when crossing alleys and open spaces. If the bullets can actually hit you now, you'll want to be able to have some suppression instead of running Hollywood style through the bullets, as para_hjs has pointed out so truthfully. This doesn't encourage lonewolfing in the very least, nor does it encourage insta-proning, because if you're within 50 meters, you can get hit by someone standing up (meaning that you'll die using that tacting), or at ranges of over 100 meters, why not go prone? You'll still need cover to survive.

Bottom line for me: I never had trouble hitting anything in 0.8. I'm not super dooper gamer-man, I just made sure I was in a favourable firing position. I didn't run anywhere without covering fire, valued my life and did everything I could not to die, which included conservative movement in a hostile area.
Now people who run around corners and prone spam seem to be on equal footing to me in my stable firing position. Bollocks to that.
Edit in relation to McLuv: If you played like that last release, you wouldn't have any trouble hitting and killing people. This is all in my rather 'too-much time playing the game' oppinion.

Last release it was so random you could bunny hop to the objective and have an equal chance.

I tested myself, laying around 10-12 seconds completely still, not even moving my mouse, and still had shots deviate over 1.5-2m off at at under 200m.

Having seen that I just decided whats the point?
