'[R-PUB wrote:Cerberus']I'm just talking about MRE's and stuff like that, not weapons!
Oh yea, MRE's, we left in the vehicle. Feel better now?

It's for Half-Life 2. Close enough.

Yes.

If a system is ever created so that we can have weapon unlocks exclusive to either team, so we can have the alternative weapons (as described in many threads about having expanded classes) it'll be fine to keep the sniper kit with the guillie suit and add the SPR to the recon class. That way there can be the sniper with guillie suit and either the M24 or one of the Barett anti-materiel rifles, and then the recon without guillie and a carbine or the SPR. For now though, it seems a good idea to have the sniper without the guillie on the maps where he doesn't have the M24, though sometimes on city maps I do use the guillie to my advantage. Even on the city maps there are places where you can hide with it, but generally the only vantage points in cities are rooftops, and we all know how easy it is to spot the bush with the dragunov...

I created a thread on this before. And I don't bother reading through every page of this one. But this is the facts: The Marines ARE wrong.
Here you can see a list of what they should have:

I think the green cammo vests just add a little realisum.
Oh boy...
Regular grunts are NOT allowed to customize their equipment! And the reason why some guys wear woodland vest (no, it's not green, it's woodland camuflaged) in real life, like the medic in BF2, is because they have not yet received their now ISSUED Coyote Brown vests.
However, if you find a picture of a Marine from '05/'06, you will be lucky to find a Woodland vest.
For your information, the latest images in the gallery of "Iraqi Freedom" on MilitaryPhotos.net is from '04.
'[R-PUB wrote:Cerberus']Like Pence said, the sniper needs to lose the ghuillie suit when he's in an urban environment. The scout sniper for the Marines should just wear some MARPAT and a boonie hat. Not sure about the other factions' snipers. Ghuillie suit is a must on maps like Zatar Wetlands and others like it.
Yes, the ghillie must go on urban maps. A recent picture of Scout/snipers in Iraq:

So, every person looks exactly the same?

But you even have to agree that not EVERYONE has those vests yet. There are still alot of the woodland camo vests running around iraq.
And we were allowed to customize our equipment. At least up until a point. There's a general guideline on where you ammo magazines should be depending on how you shoot (left or right handed) but we could still wear whatever we wanted. Even if you were issued the tan vests, you could still wear the green.
Hell at one point we had just the modular plate carriers. Army didn't like that, because it didn't protect the sides. So we just put the plate carrier over the regular vest.

It's combat, no one gives two shits about how you dress yourself. That all happens back in garrison.

There are simply not
alot of woodland vests in Iraq. I've not seen a picture from '05 or later featuring a Marine with a woodland vest. But there may be some, yes.

I was there in 05. Oct, 04, to Oct, 05. I've seen plenty of them. As for Marines, I have no idea honestly. I was Army.

Well, I was obviously taking about the few and proud.

You guys will eventually get the OTV in ACU camo anyway?

Yea they are just now getting them out. Some new guys came into the middle of OIF III, and they had the new tan vests. I was pissed.

The thing that bugs me the most is that every soldier wearing body armour (every soldier on the field should wear body armour anyway...) looks far too bulky and the support guy is the only soldier with that huge pack on his back.

It is bulky. You've got kevlar pads underneath, and a plate that sticks out. And some guys take it even farther and buy "rigs" to put over the top of the vest. Along with a camel back (if you take one) and the other ****, you look ten times bigger than what you really are sometimes.
And I do believe that huge pack is to simulate him carrying extra ammo. But the saw gunner can already carry around 800 rounds on him.

You have to admit: the MEC support looks like a snowman.

This supposes that the regular forces are supplied with the kit they should have
The pack is a bit of a joke too - they're both meant to be rapid reaction forces (to some degree) and have limited aims (the capture of a town/area) so they would not carry supplies for > 24 hours as a maximum.

Riiiiiiiight. Have you ever been out there and occupied a city for real? It sucks, and we took whatever we could haul on our backs. And walked most of the way in.

Haha, i'll have to check in on that. Haven't really paid much attention to MEC guys when i'm battling it out with them.
