Nope, because you can either wait 5 seconds for the medic to revive you so you can keep fighting with all your veterancy status and any weapons or other perks you might have picked up, as well as your location OR you can be slapped across the face with a 20 second respawn time, and be thrown back into your home base with no weapons, no veterancy status or any other perks, and a long walk to your nearest outpost (or, a quick drive in a friendly teammate's vehicle if they all haven't been used elsewhere/destroyed, but you still lose all your other perks).

Hows about as a little living incentive, we make it so its slightly impaired, moves slower, crosshairs close slower but still close as close as they normally would, just takes longer. And throw in a 1 minute spawn time. presto, you will wait there for a medic and there will be medics out there who want the job of saving people from such a terrible fate.

A 1 minute spawn time is too excessive. Plus, people will be clamoring to keep any perks they might have, since they can't score-whore anymore.

My logistics suggestion is a limited number of spawning vechs... how many times have you seen fools take an F16 just to parachute out. I saw only give the team X amount of tanks and helos and thats it! You lose them all... oh well, you are shafted for your teams stupidity!

actually, thats quite a good idea

, but we also want to make reasonanbly long spawn times for the vehicles

If you want it to be really realistic you would have a 20 second long death of which consists of the soldier writhing in agony and screaming, (Ive seen this before and you feel really guilty for the guys.) However I would understand if this would make the game a bit excessive in violence. Also another idea that just spawned out of my head is transporting vehicles by plane. Stick a couple of challenger II in a hercules and wath the airdrop. And finally how about female soldiers! Now that would be intersting... See how many Guys will shoot a girl...

I doubt a C130 can carry two Challenger 2 battle tanks. Also, the writing around and screaming might end up being a feature.

I think it the whole groaning in agony in the final few seconds/minutes of life would be a very 'realistic' feature and would really show off the 'horrible' side of war. Which many players of games like BF1942/DC are 'sheltered' from and may never see.
Heck we may have to put a:
or
On our mod, lol. or have a ESRB Rating of Mature-Adult

by Dr.Spangle
No we don't. There's a specific reason why there's a huge ESRB WARNING!!! GAMEPLAY MAY CHANGE DURING ONLINE PLAY!
The reason for this is to warn parents that people might be dropping F-Bombs all over the game server little Johnny plays on. However, luckily for us, that clause also works for mods! Heck, we could even throw in pornography and they can't touch us!

Sorry but being British and all I did say hercules and i know for a fact that they can carry two WIV (Warrior Infantary Vehicles aka a bradley). C130 is a diffrent matter completly, but I would imagine it could carry some large payloads.

C130's NATO name is Hercules. They can carry a large payload, but certainly not two main battle tanks.

dont you think writhing in pain and screaming is just a bit excessive?

by Dr.Spangle
Nope. It's a good signal that the guy's dying and needs a medic badly. Works alot better than a cheezy "MEDIC! MEDIC! MEDIC!".

Meh, I could just see some sick ******* (medic class) standing over a fellow soldier watch him scream and writh in merciless pain. And then give a little chuckle as he walks away.

it may be realistic but it will get annoying if its a scripted sound
Posted: 2004-08-04 05:46
by Dr.Spangle
We can have a bunch of random "pain sound" sequences that it'll go through.

wow, the real horrid aspects of war, like the old addage, "As long as a runners lungs have breath in them, they can carry a message."
oops just realized I'm replying to something from the end of page one... grrr
