Should Logistics become a direct part of the Gameplay!??

Post by Mighty_Matt »

this is based on a very old idea i once had for DC

Basically if people are given the realistic amounts of Ammunition instead of shoving crates everywhere (though in some places that is realistic) you have proper logistical vehicles

like Chinhooks could drop of BF:V style crates or something

But the real Meat of this Idea is having a Flatbed Truck (or equelevant) which not only re-arms and (maybe) heals people but Is laden with Kits (sort of like a mobile armoury) so when the defence of a point goes sour players can swap their kits for something more appropriate instead of just having to die

it could also feature deployable .50's and other defensive weaponery so after capturing a point a team can bring up the flatbed and realy get their teeth into defending it!

Yep, this is pretty much what I was thinking. Logistics should be a big part of playing the game. Ammo for troops should be low, so you can't just sit there and rambo all day long.

you shouldnt get a ton of clips, but you should get about 4, so if you are told to hold a position, u dont have to be constantly running to crates for supplies

I like this idea, the only problem I would see is that people would constantly be taking supply vehicles with them instead of more fighting based ones. Which is a bad thing, but well. yeah. Its a good idea on the whole, as long as it works ingame. We'll just have to see.

Standard infantrymen will be issued with 7 magazines for their primary weapon. 1 in the well, 6 on the LBE's.

Special Forces Operators might recieve a few more.

we could make the truck less desirable by making it rather slow, and almost impossible to take off of the main roads

I'm not so sure about this. Giving people so much ammo really allows them to hold out for a LONG time without any kind of resupply. I'm thinking maybe 6 mags total for the riflemen, and even less for other classes. People should rely on one another for ammo, and it will make resupply via air or ground that much more useful and important.

7 magazines is the standard amount for U.S. Infantrymen.

I should imagine so.

On the subject of dead teammates; maybe when a friendly goes down, the other Soldiers and a medic could drag the body into an alley, or building, and try to revive him.

This would be a lot better than just leaving a badly wounded Soldier to die. And with some of the suggestions that Spangle made which concern wounds or injuries sustained by the player, it fits together perfectly.

yeah, you could remain in your dead body until you respawn, so if someone revives you, you would just get up and continue the fight :P

That might be cool. It would be great if we could get dragging worked in there, because of the ragdoll physics and whatnot.

also, maybe if enemy corpses are lying on the ground, we could shoot them to stop their medics from saving them

That would actually add a good level of fear and/or stress to the mod.

I think that's a good idea.

Sounds great to me.

Edit: Just flashed back to the "sniper" scene in Full Metal Jacket.
