Actually, all you do is press one of your W A S D keys every 5 minutes. You will be fine. Moving your mouse does not register as being active for PB. PB will only think ur active if you use your a w s d keys to move, otherwise, ur idle in its eyes.

I've been on the TG server playing serious games as early as 5 am eastern. When a server goes from 62 to 0 on a map change, its not because 62 people wanted to go sleep.Web_cole wrote:Iron Ridge is played on a number of servers without 'killing' them. I suspect you'll find the actual reason the server died is because it was around 7.00 AM GMT (2.00 AM EST) which in my experience is around about when TG goes to sleep.

Your no claim on assets rule is ruining gameplay. Unless theres a commander it completly ruins gameplay and lets idiots take assets from squads which are dedicated to using that asset and lets them get away with it.
I will not be playing on TG until you guys change this rule because I've had with people jacking shit my squad is using.
Can't even hop out of an asset without someone taking it.

Okay, see you around, or maybe not, I guess.
Honestly, threatening to "stop playing" on a server unless you get your way isn't going to change anything.

While assets aren't assigned by squad name players are not allowed to take assets in the field that are in use by another squad. If you hop out of a vehicle in main make sure you are clear that you intended to hop back into it in the near future but if you leave it for long someone else can take it. You are correct that you can't claim 'backups' without commander approval just because you are a dedicated squad, you may think it ruins game play but I've found that if the team is working together most people voluntarily allow a named squad to have control over that asset if they are doing a decent job with it even without a commander.unrealalex wrote:Your no claim on assets rule is ruining gameplay. In either case, these issues must be reported for an admin to take action, preferably something like "!reporting leetsniper taking an asset that is in use".
As for maps, any long map at 2 am EST is likely to empty the server not because everyone wants to go to bed, but because enough know they won't play the whole round leave and the rest follow. Iron Ridge, Quinling and other long maps don't empty the server during peak hours and the rotation doesn't have a set time schedule.

Re: |TG| TacticalGamer.com (North America)
people ask because thats the standard rule on all other servers but tg...ive seen people "steal" trans choppers, tanks. I made a little bird squad on Karbala, we had a spotter and experienced pilots and if it wasnt for the commander insisting we get the choppers, a lonewolf would have taken it. It worked then but how often do you have a commander ? like once every other round.echo wrote:Long *** game on Yamalia this morning. My eyes are buzzing. Great game though. Even if it did last longer than 3 hours (I think)?
Snooggums is exactly right in saying this. Just on this long Yamalia game we just finished I had a BTR squad up and running and people were asking me (Even though we had no commander) if they could take a BTR as the Russian's start with 5 APC's. (3 BTR-80A. 2 BTR-80) I said they could take it of course. But it was good that he asked me as it shows a little courtesy. In other games it might not appear like this, but in the majority of the games that I have played on TG, when you play and have a named asset squad up; generally people accept that and allow your use of that asset if you do well with it. I don't think there is an asset problem on TG.

I've never understood the fuzz about the assets. If you don't get your fancy toy, go do something else? The rule on TG mostly works just fine, and in the rare occasion that some asshat steals an asset I just go do something else..

Re: |TG| TacticalGamer.com (North America)
A couple months ago I had a guy really get upset about not being able to keep a tank in reserve for his two man tank squad. Yes, he had an active tank and someone wanted the one at main. He became so enraged that someone wanted to play with what he thought was his toy that he rage quit out of a perfectly good tank he already had because someone had the other one.
When there is a commander the assigning of assets is in place to allow someone in a central position to allocate resources or hold them in reserve/out of the fight. When there is no commander why should one person decide for the rest of the team just because they typed a series of letters? What if they are terrible with the assets and just keep losing them over and over? Shouldn't someone else have the chance to step up when the assets are sitting around at main and there is no central decision maker (commander)?

Re: |TG| TacticalGamer.com (North America)
I made a squad called infantry one time, and then this other SL called his squad infantry also, it really peeved me because I wanted all the infantry guys!! I ended up having 5 other players and he took 5 more players from me. Then out of nowhere another guy made a squad and called it Inf-Tact which I could only imagine stood for Infantry Tactics.
I mean come on, how many infantry squads do we need on a map, everyone knows that Tanks and transport helicopters and APC's, and Attack Jets and Attack Helo's and Snipers cap flags and win battles.
I almost thought about waiting at main for the entire round until those 2 other infantry squads disbanded so I could get all of the other infantry players, but then I figured that I'll go help defend, and cap flags.
*Weird, just had Deja vu posting this reply.

Re: |TG| TacticalGamer.com (North America)
I hate squad-name based claims on assets.
It favors the quicker loading players and seems to be based on the notion of whoring an asset for up to 4 hours, even though there may be long periods of time where the asset sits idle because the named crew was off doing something else.
The squads are ALWAYS locked so it require a bunch of begging and BS to use the asset and some servers seem to have admins poised to kick or ban over the " MINE ! MINE !" issue.
I think the TG system works very well.

Re: |TG| TacticalGamer.com (North America)
Last Night on Kashan we had 2 "Tank" squads, and no one squabbled over who got to use what. More often then not you don't even need to use team chat to organize the assets between squads. At one point all the US tanks were on the roll, and we decimated the oppositions armor with only one loss between 2 squads. I do realize people loading the fastest will usually get to their preferred asset(s) first, but honestly if you're not loaded before the round goes live chances are you shouldn't be in an asset anyways (FPS, Lag, and other computer issues likely cause your long loading). Also if by chances inexperienced players get assets they normally lose it in 5 minutes and turn into infantry.
The asset issue is more of a non-issue due to the server regulars knowing each other, and know who is a good tanker or a good pilot. Giving the CAS squad their jets/bombers, or the Trans squad their cow will usually result in good things for your team.
As a final thought; Did you even talk to the players who stole your asset(s)? Maybe you could let them take it this spawn/round and your guys can have it next time around. Between rounds you can notify the team of your intentions using mumble as well, but if you join the server half way don't expect dibs on any assets.

All armor, All Planes, All Helicopters, All Lions, All Tigers & All Bears belongs to me. - End of Witty reply
Back on topic:
My suggestion if there is a time when you want to use an asset but cannot due to them already being more than enough players using them. Instead of waiting at the main base, go as infantry, or ask if anyone needs help with defense of a flag, just don't huff and puff and do something drastic like i have seen countless times before and take a specialized kit only to lose it minutes later, or do something you will regret.
There are other maps with assets on the maplist, wait until the next map, get on mumble and say "Hey guys, I'm going to use X asset this round anyone want to join?" Or, if you don't completely feel comfortable being a SL of lets say an armor asset, simply ask "Can I have an invite to an armor squad, I am still learning all the tricks of it and I'd like to experience the asset from the lead of a more experience SL."
It goes a lot farther than saying, "I want to only gun" or something like that.
If by some chance you are still not happy, then, create your own local server or coop server and you will be able to fly and use armor till your hearts content.

If there is a shortage of tanks, there is a plethora of AA vehicles just waiting to be manned by a bored two man crew.

One asset that never gets fought over is the ACV (Armored Command Vehicle). I really wish there were more arguments over who got to use that asset...
