I think its best to keep things simple. This is my brief summary of the gamemode is:

1. The Blufor have a VIP veichal which is capable of capping the convoy way points.
2. once a way point is capped the next way point becomes visible to the Blufor.(there's random way points to keep the game re playable).
3. The insurgent force gets to see the current Blufors way point and the next one in advance so they can prepare ambushes. (sapper kits are limited and mines aren't available so they can only use IEDs)
4. The insurgents win if the Blufor fail to reach the final way point in time or if the Blufor run out of tickets.
5. Blufor obviously win if the VIP reaches and caps the final way point.

Other notes:
*insurgents have a certain number of deployable barricades to channel the Blufor team.
*mortars are not available to either team.
*only the insurgents can build FOBs/hideouts and defensive weapons.
*insurgents have transports and logistical veichals only.
*Blufor have 1-2 APCs, maybe 1 recon helicopter, numerous Humvees(some uparmoured), troop transports and a single VIP car( which has a 2-5 minute spawn delay).
*insurgents have a limited number of sappers, RPGs, machine guns, 1 heavy sapper and 1-2 snipers/marksman. no civilians.

And that's about it some things will need tweaking probably but once PR has this gamemode no one will regret the effort which based off whats already available wont be too hard. so lets push this thing along and add another great gamemode to PR.

Everyone just waiting official response on that :)

In my opinion, this plan for vip gamemode almost ideal. But it need some protect from idiots\wasters\griefers.
Maybe it can be done via server rules, or by mod, i don't know. But better ask devs to implement this into PR, play some games, and give a feedback?

Not quite sure if I agree with that one. Building and actually manning FOBs along strategic roads/intersections/positions could actually be another vital part of BLUFOR gameplay. They would serve as staging and recovery areas.

The idea is to encourage convoy tactics. I don't want them to stage and regroup in the field. And most of all I don't want BLUFOR guys camping in random fobs far away from the objective route wasting tickets and using vehicles for that. The objective is to ESCORT the VIP in a convoy fashion to the flags. They leave as a team and they escort the VIP as a team or they fail. The BLUFOR has a very limited ability to adapt in this gamemode in comparison to the OPFOR. When playing BLUFOR it pretty much comes down to deciding your route to each flag and the order/formation of the vehicles in the convoy.

I dont want to die in the truck without fighting.

I seems to be repeating same thing.

Otherwise the convoy will rush infmen will die inside the truck without fighting

or

Convoy will stop infmen will be overrunned by endless ins till next convoy.

Infantry may have a limited role for Blufor team such as protecting convoy if it stalls or overrunning nearby insurgent positions that pose a direct threat to the convoy. What this gamemode is trying to avoid is just a pure infantry vs infantry engagement on focus more on the convoy vs insurgents. But dont discount the use of infantry by Blufor they will still have value in securing the area around the convoys and assaulting insurgent positions if the need arises.

The idea is great for organized event and not as gamemode. As mentioned above it has way too much possibilities for the idiots to ruin fun.

Additionally, it requires way better teamwork for BLUEFOR than any other gamemode and we all know how exhausting teamwork might be :-P

So, organized event - YES. Official gamemode - NO.

I see far less possibilities for greifing than the current gamemodes. I doubt it could get any worse than insurgency which can be won by BLUFOR in under 30 min if they know the cache spawns. And truthfully I already uninstalled PR, all I've seen is the urge by the DEVS to add more guns! more sounds! more things that don't fix the current flaws in game play! I really don't care for the direction this mod took over the past few years, they seem more focused now on guns and sounds than actually fixing the gameplay thats horribly broken. And eskil pretty much stopped most of his work on this, so don't expect it for even events.

It doesn't really seem to matter what decision the Devs make someone always has to get all up at arms about it. I think people are just fearful of change. Anyway is there a way we can get an OFFICIAL Dev response on this gamemode?

MrTomRobs wrote:Just a spitball here, but maybe the VIP could be on the Insurgent's side with a civi kit or something? Say just have one squad that is dedicated to close escort, while the rest of the insurgents take up barricades and ambushes etc. Blufor would need to fight from the airport down into the embassy in K12, wipeout the security guard and then escort the VIP back to the hangar on the far side of the airfield in D2? it might take an admin to enforce, but the DoD could be dropped once the VIP in in custody of the bluefor?

Could re-name it HVT (High Value Target) possibly?

But i like the ideas of having to take checkpoints and such :D

I'd like to bring this back up to the top.

If you're just seeing this for the first time I'm going to summarize what's been said so far:
It could be accomplished if the VIP has to follow a particular route that both Blufor and Opfor are aware of even though the route could change each time the map loads.

My new thoughts:
I believe that one thing that has to be resolved is how Blufor/Opfor would rejoin the fight after respawning. Would they respawn in main and have to wait for a Humvee or would whatever checkpoint the VIP passes through become a new spawn point?

With that system, Opfor would be able to spawn at any of the checkpoints that the VIP hasn't captured. When the VIP captures a checkpoint, Opfor can no longer spawn at the next checkpoint so Blufor has a chance to be able to push through and get the VIP to the capture point.

Also, just as a fail safe, I think the VIP shouldn't be able to get into any of the helicopters. It would have to be coded to mimic when any kit besides a Crewman or Pilot gets into a driver's seat the vehicle will kill them. That way Blufor woudldn't be able to just blaze through a map because a Cobra and a Blackhawk blasted their way through the defenses and got to the end.

I like how bluedrake does his VIP scenarios on Sundays.
Wouldn't mind if PR had that type.

I know this has been discussed in the past, but make the blufor a private security company or a delta/seal team and give them m4s with eotechs, the acogs with either doctor or iron sights , stuff like that.

The PSC faction was canceled because it was dead in the water for so long and the Seals thing will never happen. Believe me, I've tried :P

I'll use Ramiel for example............
I was thinking that the VIP would start with Blufor instead of Blufor having to retrieve him. So it would be more of an escort mission instead of a search and rescue. I think your idea could really work too though. I'd just be worried about Opfor stumbling upon the VIP early and the game ending 5 minutes in.
