Re: Possible solution to civie kills....
Realistically, there are too many civilians to know who's for and against you.
And the British-supporting civi will have an incentive to just stay alive, and not get shot by the Insurgents, so he should tend to just stay out of sight when supporting the British.
This would be perfect if nametags were completely removed, and the map was cleared of friendly markers.

That makes total sense.:rollostupidman wrote:Insurgents realistically shouldn't be punished for killing a "british civie". They use fear and the threat of death to the populace, to try and force them not to cooperate. I'm sure we have all heard the stories of informants and collaborators being murdered by insurgents. Their weapon over the people is fear, fear for their lives and those of their family.
I guess the current in-game civies are so scared of the insugency....that they would rather run out at the Brits and get shot or stabbed to death?

The current in game civies represent supporters of the insurgency not just random citizens that are pulled out of the populace.
If brute force doesn't work.......your not using enough of it.

So....you are saying that IRL in a city where there is an insurgency....ALL civies support the insurgency?ostupidman wrote:The current in game civies represent supporters of the insurgency not just random citizens that are pulled out of the populace.
I didnt thinks so....me either.
So.....civies on the Brit side.....would represent those civies of the populace that dont support the insugency and want a free Basrah.
I am not saying allow everyone to be a civie.
Make it a limitable kit.
Maybe only as many civies as there are allowable squads....only one per squad.....or maybe even less.

This is a "bump" of sorts....
Was wondering what the Devs thought about any of these ideas if anything?

Please don't bump, especially when the thread in question is already on the first page of current threads, has been posted in today and when the last poster was yourself. It's just poor forum ettiquette.
The Devs will respond when and if they so choose to; bumping doesn't make them more likely to post their thoughts.

The suggestion provide is an attempt to dissuade soldiers from shooting civilians by providing a mechanism for punishment. Most will weigh the pros and cons of accidentally shooting a civilian and then will take the shot regardless. Many new players often don't even understand the gameplay mechanics for the insurgent maps and will shoot insurgents willy nilly. So what we need is a punishment method. Sorry if this has already been observed.

You are correct in your observation, but.....Not only has this already been observed....but it was observed a couple of times within this very thread.culliganator wrote:The suggestion provide is an attempt to dissuade soldiers from shooting civilians by providing a mechanism for punishment. I know you are new around here so the apology is most assuredly excepted.
In the future, please read the entire thread if you have time, before posting.
The crux of the situation is this I think...
Killing a "civie" should carry a hefty punishment.
But.....sometimes civies should be killed when acting "un-civie" like.
How do you get the game to know between the two in order to maintain balance and flow?

That would be because they generally don't, unless something's very original or very useful. In which case a member of the team (MOD, PUB or CON) may well have PM'd them the link to the thread to raise their attention to it.RCMoonPie wrote:My apologies to all who were offended by my "poor forum etiquette".

Would you rather Devs spent 2 hours a day reading and replying to suggestions - 95% of which aren't new, and for the 5% that are, the resulting discussion results in 10 pages of mostly junk - or that they spend 2 hours a day working on their particular contributions?

Which is fine and completely natural... but you just gotta accept that you'll only get the love from the community members generally speaking. If your suggestion is really good and does get included, you'll feel even more love (quite possible unexpected love!) when a version of the mod comes out with "your" suggestion in it.
Until then, patience padawan.
