You guys talking about the tank trenches of WWII?
yeah, those are pretty good, add some more armor and add a tank to be a canon torrent.

lol what?
C&C would benefit from having more permanent or bigger deployables and the C&C maps are just wide open areas. but thats a different suggestion.

badmojo420 wrote:Both things are unrealistic. There's no way an object providing cover 30s before it's completed is a fair trade off to losing your work if you stop shoveling. Neither things improve game play at all for either side. And one is dependent on the other, you won't have that cover at all if you stop shoveling. Also, most of the time people shovel stuff from behind the foundation, so the cover is there from the start.
I don't expect these things to change, but I don't agree with your justification for them to exist. Two wrongs don't make a right.
it's a fair trade off sort of but lets read my other posts first, i'm against it. lets remember that if you shoot, you lose the cover but your enemy gets killed, if you keep shoveling, you get to finish but you get flanked most of the time

it,s not about C&C, it,s about how you use the more bigger deployable assets can be used to cover tanks in order to offer it a extra protection while they are on stand by waiting for someone enter it,s area has mostly is donne in PR due they litle armor,
that,s is about TANK trenches, is what i talking about,

I haven't tried to fill a hesco by hand. But I have moved a bit of sand, gravel, dirt and rocks by hand. Filling a hesco by hand is possible within a few hours if you have sand or other forms of loose dirt (with high sand content) on the ground next to it. If it is sanding on rock where you have to first use a pick to get small rock it will take you forever.
However, I think the most important aspect with regards to implementing it is not the time it takes to construct them irl, bur rather the effect they have on gameplay.

With the right equipment it only takes a few minutes:
With a shovel, hours...

The fire bases we make in the game, are designed like Patrol hides... quick to set up, and quick to dismantle, ideal for the light infantry..
If the addition of Hesco to be added to the game, i think it would be ideal for the Team Commander have the ability to set up the hesco at the main base to start up a "FOB"... most servers allow 2-3 minutes worth of waiting before a round starts, if a team commander could hop in, put up a 4 wall compound with a entrance, then it would alright...
But no Hesco for the firebases that a Squad leader can set up..
indeed, but we can still use the suply trunks buddy to deploy hescos. because i have see then droped by so in some fotos,

+1
If supply trucks could drop a 4-long hesco block that would work out well. If they work like crates, and they might slide around, unless that can be fixed. They could even work like CSBs, although that would require mappers to individually place spots for them.

This would be yet another reason to add.... combat engineer vehicles.
The only way I can see hescos working is if you could build enough to properly protect your fob, which as mentioned would take a long *** time. Even if the time to fill them up was greatly reduced for gameplay we would be talking about this taking like 45 minutes. A time period in which you're kicking up those enormous clouds of dust while lying on your belly with an e-tool, it seems like you'd never have the time to set up a fob in game.

question is, they will be need the Engineer wrench to finish the job? because a truck drop the hescos, but do not put dirt inside, right?

They could drop empty ones, and people would have to use shovels to fill them. It would take about as much time as an FOB to build. While it may be partially unrealistic, I think that people would have to go through enough trouble to build them that it works. For example, CSBs most likely do not fit in a truck.

I stand corrected. I just meant that they would not fit into the ingame Logi truck, as the CSB itself larger.

indeed, the logi trucks ingame are there just to simulate the bridge launching vehicles above without the need of making new models and new separate roles for players to do ingame which take more boots off the front line.

what about a logistic trunks that only deploy hescos instead of a single logi, i mean it,s prety hard to inside a single truck have enough hescos to build a significant defense.
so a hesco trunk will have 8 hecos, right? and will be available in such maps where hesco will not be overpower, or will be needed.
this will simulate the heavy and specific equipment needed to deploy just barricates in quite game play > Reality fashion.
losing the especial hesco trunk, make you loose the ability to deploy then, what you guys thick about it?

I'm starting to think this whole hesco business wouldn't work in game. Maybe Arma but not bf2, at any rate.

btw, which countries use HESCOs. Is it just NATO+almost NATO or is it used by the classic OpFor too?

It's a box with dirt in it. I would imagine most forces have some variant of it.

yea sure, but it's still made by Hesco Bastion in UK. A top of that the invention is quite young (late 1980s) so it hasn't necessarily spread to other countries. However, I have no idea.

- Of course the trademarked Hesco Barrier might not be used by all factions in PR, but the model for their variants would be basically the same, with a differend brand name on it.
