you know that they put about 2 tons of MEXAS CERAMIC armor on LAV3L ? wich provide protection against RPG.
Steel is useless against shaped charge, ceramic on the other hand have proven its capability to stop it... same concept apply on MBT.

nonetheless it still has the same protection... It does not it does not say anything about the add on armor but the US is known for putting on add ons too especially the LAV and AAV the USMC uses (after they land from their Amphib missions).
If you can find a source stating that the LAV III has better armor then the Stryker its all yours. The stryker is know to put on additional armor as well.
