alot said here is true, but there are noobs on every asset. i cant believe how many times ive seen pilots just crash the damn thing just 5sec after they get in but what ya gonna do..... but get a pro in one of those spots then they become extremly lethal. So "NO" to getting rid of sniper kit

This isnt a FAQ, its a forum, read the post we have written, and respond to them, obviously the question and how we elaborate our answers will be different after 5 pages of responses. What do you think of what i wrote for example? Or what kirra wrote? Rudd maybe wants a response...

So, i think all assets does have their bunch of retards, retarded squadleaders, squadmembers, automatic riflemen, crewmen, commanders, gunners, pilots, jets, helicopters!

We all have our fair share of retarded people, but i guess the sniper just has a bit more

Let me give you an example about fun...
Sometimes you maybe want to go alone to a bar and look after girls.
Other times you want to go to a bar with some friends and drink beers.
Both of situations are acceptable.
But if you go to a bar with friends and you stay somewhere far from them and look after girls dont ask: "Why guys you are angry with me?"

PR is a team based game. There are many games out there which can make you feel like Vasili Zaitsev, Adolf Gallant, John Rambo or whatever you want. You prefer to feel like them in a team based game. I dont understand this logic but its respected.
You dont want belong to a team but have fun alone. Respected once more.
But then you have to respect and my side too.

As a Squad leader I just prefer having my squad member close to me at all time. I just don't like having one of my squad member hundred meters away. + lets face it, very few sniper will register a lot of kills and very few environments are friendly to snipers. In PR, basic rifleman is of much more use to a squad than any sniper will ever be in my opinion.

Squad leaders don't appreciate the killing power of a sniper kit in a 6 man squad. If they allowed him to follow with the squad if your get pinned he can easily sort the problem by slipping off to the side and taking out the target. Snipers only get bad attention because half the time it is people from vanilla coming on and not doing any recon , doesn't understand the deviation and has never played before. The one thing im annoyed with is the stereotypes that go along with the typical sniper. Stop it.

Happened again in sorts today on T and T on Karbala, player joined a 1 man squad

grabbed sniper kit

other SM left

sniper goes into the combat zone with the infantry

sniper dies within 2 minutes (no exageration)

sniper disconnects

Imo with only 32 men, it is senseless to have spotter for a sniper.
The sniper can spot for himself and a good sniper doesnt need a defence - he is invisible

Can a team really afford 4 guys just spotting mainly?

the rest of the team doesnt read the chat anyway or listen to them.
people can be informed that an enemy is in front and still they run there and get shot in the head.
Maybe I am frustrated but this is I am sure what most people and at least myself experience during regular public gameplay without X clanmembers.

I plea for a solo sniper or at least both sniper kits together and not using 4 guys on that job which makes the most times unuseful but fun sniper job even more senseless.

Agreed, People complain that sniper is useless and that it takes away 1 more gun from the frontline, then what about the spotter? If the sniper uses his Designator he has as good a view as with the binos. A second guy at the same place is just surplus and unneeded. It also increases the risk of detection. I think sniper should be requestable even when not in a squad, but with some kind of requirement, like 15 hours on training server with sniper kit.

On topic: Freeway, as everyone said, we dont like snipers that dont contribute to the team and by the sound of it you aint contributing. We like to win you see and when you descibed the way you played, it sounded like you dont play for the team to win. "u cant tell us how to enjoy the game , like me i like the lee enfield so much i could wait for it 20 mins . i sometimes dont have many kills and most of the time i walk all over the map to get a good spot but i enjoy it ." It doesnt sound like you are helping the team as much as you could in that time. Sure, Pr is a game to play for fun, and i have been waiting on choppers on a few occasions when it wasnt the best thing for the team, so I certainly am not perfect either, but in generall I do my best for my team to win the game. That is how most of us play the game and we expect our teammates to do it also and angry words can be said when we feel somebody is not trying to contribute enough.

like i said, sniper kit is like a virus and infects the best of people. ive had some good players ask me to take the sniper kit, ive said ok because i know them, and on the condition they stick CLOSE to me and the squad.

but they slowly are lost to the world of the noob, constantly asking me;

"can i go on that hill over there, that roof top, this and that"

and slowly drift away from the squad to the point where they are no help what so ever and i kick them.

I would gladly add my honest and complex opinion about this topic but after 5 pages (actually 8 at the moment) there is almost nothing else to say and this thread is a little bit repeatable We all know how it is these days and there is nothing we can do about it.

There is nothing else for me to do so I'll only add my opinion about snipers (my 2 cents)
IMO, on public servers, while playing with random people, a sniper is a waste of slot in an infantry squad. They should be in a separate squad and do their job. I don't hate them but they are just not welcomed since they slow down the squad.
That's all.

I actually like a sniper in my squad just as much as I like a marksman. He can provide overwatch from a good place and as long as he listens to you, you just tell him to move and he'll come. I also like keeping him in the squad. Just have everyone else cover him (eg. don't let him take point) and use him when necessary. The sniper kit gets abused, but so do tanks and cars and APCs. Does't mean we should take those out.

Alot of people here think its a waste of a spot, no, its not. In the hands of good snipers, they are lethal.

The hatred comes from what rangersPL has said, and wasting other assets.

Dont make me post my kills score here, cuz i dont want to show off.
(Its not about the kills, i pass intel as much as killing, but the killing really helps fend off attacks on our main base and other situations.)

i was also wondering about the different accounts both calling themselves AlexanderK-47. the accounts appear to be written by different people. very strange indeed.

Snipers being in their own squad sometimes isn't enough though, they also need common sense.

Take for example last night on basrah, captbadass squadleader on a 3 man squad decides to be a sniper. No problem he has two spotters and some good covering fire should things go south. Wrong! Decides to run into the slums area with the kit by himself when there are technicals all around and shotgunners too. Needless to say he loses the kit. But, not content with that he goes and does it again!


I mainly play insurgency maps and I will always assign kits when i'm squadleading, since my squads are always infantry there are several big no no's kit wise. Sniper, HAT, Marksman and even a LAT. If you are going into the fight you don't need any of those in my opinion, especially the first two.

I have no problem with sniper squads, sometimes a good sniper can be an invaluable source of intel. The problem is good snipers are few and far between, as a sniper its not enough to just shoot straight.
As a sniper you must realise three things: 1. your kit is one of the most valuable there is more so to the insurgent side, 2. you are a better source for intel for your team then just shooting enemies, and 3. you must have common sense, just cause you see enemy around the area doesn't mean you go charging into that area.


Don't get me started ong HAT kits.

I play on the insurgency servers a lot, and I can say that about 1 out of every 20 snipers I see is actually what I would consider "good." The rest are all newbies, many of whom are young & immature, dumb, and/or high. After getting the kit they promptly die, giving the powerful sniper rifle up to a better player on the other team.

I'd say the same applies to people who take the HAT.

I know this makes me sound like a jerk, but I also think the OP's bad grammar is entirely consistent with my theory about the majority of snipers being dumb.

I dont mind them outside of my squad. But it really annoys me when they take the teams only build truck at the beginning of the round to get to 'that' place.

CASES I HAVE SEEN INVOLVING SNIPERS
on Muttrah sniper gets dropped off in the mountains as US. My squad battled through N.City & West and cleared out the MEC and then requested supplies, only for the sniper' in the mountains to request at the same time, huey goes to sniper to drop supplies for his ''ammo'' and we dont get FOB up in time, rally overrun. lose alot of ground and they retake west.

KASHAN DESERT sniper has only build truck next to him in the mountains overlooking S.BUNKER. Our tank takes a shell and is disabled but the other tank from our squad kills the APC that hit us. He is about 200m away and we type up and ask him to bring us a repair point politely, he refuses becuase he is 'busy' killing enemy.


The reason most people dislike snipers is not because they think its a useless kit,. People dislike the steriotype that kit attracts, the tpye of people who use it for kills, never type anything up, lose it, then get a HAT kit then go waste that. Never usually have VOip but insist on joining an inf squad to get it, ignore orders and never overwatch tactical positions but instead go to uncappable flags and harass enemy BLUE guys who spawn on FOB's away from the action becuase they have no rally. They'rew the tpye of people that enjoy PR for all the wrtong reasons. and think theyre important and skilled when really there a waste.

And BTW you can never compare the killing power of a tank, or the importance of a transport chopper to a 'sniper'. So please dont decieve yourself in to believeing that.

I agree with the request while not in a squad to prevent squad jumpers, but 15 hours!? Maybe 1 or 2 hours at most, and if they still suck, then maybe a little longer. some time or kill requirement would be as bad as removing the sniper kit(I'm a sniper.) And no, I don't need a spotter (a chaffuer would be nice though ).
